Basic Function:

The Finance Analyst - Service Lines is responsible for the coordination, compilation and interpretation of information from multiple data systems regarding health care services, departmental productivity, and costs. Maintains and updates management reporting in the Ellis Hospital financial reporting model for EMG. Responsible for the monthly reporting of EMG profit and loss statements and provides statistical and analytical assistance regarding EMG for the Finance department. The Senior Finance Analyst will assist the Director with the role of Business Partner to EMG leaders and will be heavily involved in the budget process. Additionally this position will assist the Director in completing, interpreting and analyzing Service Line reports on a quarterly basis.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. Master's degree preferred.
Three (3) years of experience in financial analysis required.
Five (5) years of experience preferred.
Must be proficient in working with financial databases, spreadsheets; Access, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilites:
  • Assists with the coordination, compilation and interpretation of information from multiple data systems regarding healthcare services, departmental productivity, and costs. Maintains and updates management reporting in the Ellis Hospital financial reporting model for EMG (Ellis Medical Group).
  • Oversees the preparation of the monthly profit and loss statements for EMG.
  • Reviews all EMG allocation and journal entries on the Hospital general ledger, which is necessary for the development of the profit and loss statements.
  • Assists the Director with analyzing actual to budget variances in the EMG profit and loss monthly statements.
  • Oversees the preparation of the monthly trended graphs for each practice.
  • Assists in Identifying revenue enhancement opportunities as they relate to the EMG practice revenue cycle.
  • Revenue enhancement initiatives will be identified such as but not limited to bad debt reduction, denial reduction, improved charge capture and enhanced business development as determined by the Director.
  • Develops and maintains key reports as needed for various initiatives.
  • Maintains financial action plans to help in identifying and monitoring the plans to drive actual financial performance to levels established by the senior leadership team.
  • Assists the Director in the development of the annual financial action plans that yield a break even performance, provides a monthly update to the financial action plan and ensures financial action plans are included in each site's financial review meeting.
  • Participates in the EMG monthly practice calls when the Director is unable to attend.
  • Presents the monthly financial statements at the EMG Board and Finance committees when the Director is unable to attend.
  • Assists the Director in the preparation and analysis on of the physician compensation and productivity reports.
  • Utilizes statistical and financial principles and techniques to prepare reports.
  • Prepares statistical information and reports for the management and operations team upon request of the Director.
  • Produces a monthly statistical report that will include productivity, revenue, and expense indicators as compared to the regional and national benchmarks.
  • Handles special projects as per the director in forecasting and financial analysis, prioritizes projects and completes projects within the agreed upon timeframes.

  • Analyzes standard monthly profit and loss statements and statistical reports for use by EMG pratices and administration.
  • Prepares monthly actual to budget variance reports, generates and analyzes ad hoc and statistical reports, completes all statistical input reporting and prepares analysis spreadsheets.
  • Respond to customer calls in a timely, courteous and efficient manner, provide optimal customer service and document call information.
  • Communicates with patients, patients' families and staff to ensure safety, patient satisfaction and excellent customer service is provided.
  • Collaborates with other departments throughout the organization and participates in Hospital related matters.
  • Adhere to patient privacy policies and procedures, maintain confidentiality.
  • Provide on the job training to new employees.
