ROLE OVERVIEW

Thiess Mining USA is looking for a dynamic Finance Analyst to be part of the North America Finance team, based in Salt Lake City.

Reporting to the Controller, North America, this position will play a critical part in the business' overall success and will be important in growing Thiess' presence in the region. In this role, you will be responsible for performing the daily financial and administrative processes that support mining projects and support functions, you will also be involved in all areas of finance, accounting, and administration.

This role will support the commercial outcome of the business, develop systems and processes, and utilize existing tools to control, report and optimize business costs and revenue. Support the establishment of new projects through setup and implementation of scalable systems and processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Work across functional teams to assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
  • Prepare detailed variance analysis and commentary

Accounting
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations for the USA and Canada
  • Manage Intercompany recharges (Australia - USA, Australia - Canada, USA - Canada)
  • Utilize consultants to build tax knowledge within the business

Cost Control
  • Identify and implement cost saving opportunities and business improvement initiatives
  • Manage Expense Claims and Credit Cards

Reporting
  • Assist in financial reporting in line with group reporting requirements (OneStream)

Administration
  • Assist with banking

Procurement
  • Thiess Procure to Pay expert (training provided) and provide training to new employees
  • Manage the Accounts Payable Workflow
  • Manage procurement housekeeping reports

Systems
  • Development and implementation of scalable systems
  • Development of reporting tools (Power BI)

Project support
  • Support the North America region through collaboration and knowledge sharing
  • Support Payroll Processing, systems, and reporting


DESIRED SKILLS
  • Work Experience
    • Project accounting, finance, commerce, analytics
    • Engineering or related field
  • Microsoft Power BI (desirable not mandatory)

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Intermediate MS Excel skills
  • Authorization to work lawfully in the USA without sponsorship from Thiess is required
  • Must be fluent in the English language

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or working towards

  • Office based role with minimum requirement of 3 days per week in the office
