Position Purpose
The Manager of Finance and Accounting is responsible for ensuring the organization's financial functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information, and maintaining compliance and regulatory requirements. This role involves financial planning, analysis, reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and forecasting processes to support senior leadership in strategic decision-making. The position will also lead and mentor the finance team and collaborate with senior leadership and other departments to improve financial performance. This position plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the financial health and integrity of the organization.

Position Purpose
The Manager of Finance and Accounting is responsible for ensuring the organization's financial functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information, and maintaining compliance and regulatory requirements. This role involves financial planning, analysis, reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and forecasting processes to support senior leadership in strategic decision-making. The position will also lead and mentor the finance team and collaborate with senior leadership and other departments to improve financial performance. This position plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the financial health and integrity of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes and reporting. Provide financial analysis to support senior leadership with the strategic function.
- Develop and analyze annual budgets, explaining variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for financial and operational performance.
- Guide and mentor the Finance and Accounting team, fostering a collaborative, positive environment, and enhancing team performance while achieving departmental objectives.
- Review and approve all general ledger accounts.
- Monitor daily cash and bank balances; collaborate with leadership on cash flow, investments, and debt management. Maintain cash forecasts to ensure adequate operational funding.
- Coordinate external audits and prepare necessary documentation.
- Perform in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, and regulations, maintaining a robust internal control system to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Stay updated on financial trends, tools, and best practices.
- Represent Your ACSA's brand consistently and professionally, while demonstrating integrity, honesty, and respect in all interactions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Post-secondary degree, and/or diploma in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Experience:
- 7 - 10 years of related experience.
- 3 - 5 years experience in a leadership role.
- Required Skills and Abilities:
- Skilled in transforming raw data into meaningful insights using Power BI.
- Competent in Sage 300 for managing financial data, processing transactions, and generating financial reports.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, pivot tables, and complex formulas.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
- Effectively collaborates with various stakeholders, leveraging communication and cooperation to drive positive outcomes.
- Ability to work independently as a strong and contributing member in a team environment.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Excels at creative thinking and problem-solving, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in overseeing financial operations, including reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, with a strong understanding of accounting principles.
- Experience in leading the budgeting process, developing models, monitoring variances, and using forecasting for long-term planning.
Logistics
- This position requires a 40-hour work week.
- This role is eligible for a hybrid work model (ACSA Edmonton office).
- Limited travel, evening, and weekend work as required based on business needs.
- This role reports to the Director of Corporate Services.
