Albizu University is seeking qualified applicants for the Finance Manager position based in Miami. The Finance Manager oversees financial operations and ensures accurate financial reporting within the institution. This role includes supervisory responsibilities over staff accountants while supporting the Finance Director in strategic financial planning and compliance.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Preparing and analyzing financial statements, cash flow reports, and forecasts.
- Conducting variance analysis and providing strategic recommendations.
- Supervising daily accounting activities, such as accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and general ledger entries.
- Ensuring compliance with accounting principles, institutional policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise the reconciliation of bank statements and ensure timely financial reporting.
- Supporting the Finance Director in annual budget preparation and quarterly forecasting.
- Monitoring and analyzing budget performance and providing insights to optimize financial resources.
- Coordinating with auditors during annual audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Implementing internal controls and procedures to safeguard financial assets.
- Leading or assisting in special financial projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Maintaining charts of accounts and ensuring compliance with institutional policies and regulatory standards.
- Supervising and mentoring staff accountants, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and best practices.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve financial objectives and support strategic initiatives.
- Participating in departmental meetings and contributing financial expertise and insights.
Qualifications, Education Requirements, and Preferred Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., G/L, A/P, A/R) and advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bilingual proficiency preferred.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
