Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) is a national, not-for-profit, shared services organization that supports hundreds of health care providers across Canada, as well as child welfare agencies and other public sector organizations. MMC provides value-driven contracting and procurement solutions for medical/surgical supplies, pharmaceutical products, local sourcing, capital (equipment, FF&E and redevelopment) and nutrition solutions. Other services include data analytics, in-hospital support, warehousing/logistics, technology, procure-to-pay, and accounts payable.

With an emerging focus on sustainability and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, MMC is actively supporting the creation of a resilient value chain that incorporates environmental, social and governance best practices. Based in Burlington, ON, the organization also has offices in Toronto, Thunder Bay, Kingston, Brantford, London and Chatham, and a distribution centre in Oakville.

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Manager, Finance to support our Finance team.

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Director, Finance, the Manager, Finance leads a team of financial professionals in the day-to-day functions of financial services. The Manager leverages their technical expertise and business insights to provide oversight to the financial processes and reporting for the organization. The role is responsible for continuous improvement activities that ensure the integrity of accounting systems and processes are maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leads the preparation and analysis of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Prepares insightful financial reports and analyses for management and internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee a team of financial professionals, providing leadership, guidance, mentorship, and feedback/development opportunities.
  • Fosters a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and employee engagement.
  • Leads the preparation and analysis of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Designs and develops process and financial controls to ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g. PSAS, Gov Not-for-profit) and regulatory requirements (e.g. Income tax act).
  • Oversees the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Analyzes financial data to identify trends, variances, and potential risks.
  • Continuously evaluates and improves financial reporting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Specifically, identifying opportunities to automate tasks and leverage technology to streamline workflows.
  • Implements, monitors, and maintains controls, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure data integrity.
  • Leads components of, or contribute to, complex financial projects, such as system implementations, acquisitions, and divestitures.
  • Acts as the primary liaison for external auditors; responsible for leading and supporting elements of audit preparation and other external financial reviews.
  • Works collaboratively and cross-functionally with peers across the finance function and organization to resolve business challenges.

  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategies to enhance team productivity and efficiency, while maintaining a strong focus on customer service.
  • Independent, self-starter with ability to prioritize and respond quickly as well as work under pressure.
  • Proven ability to understand business operating and financial processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all levels within the organization.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple and competing projects effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to relay financial information to business leaders across the organization.


Education, Training and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • Minimum professional accounting designation of CPA
  • 5-7 years of progressive work experience in financial or analytical role.
  • 1-2 years of work experience in people leadership position.
  • Expert competency in MS Office applications (Excel, PPT, Outlook, SharePoint), and working knowledge of Power Applications (BI, Pivot, Automate, etc.).


Preferred

  • Strong system skills of Microsoft Dynamics Navision, Business Central and SAP an asset
  • Master's degree in Business or Finance/Accounting an asset
  • Background in Healthcare/BPS (Broader Public Sector) preferred
  • Knowledge of industry-specific accounting and reporting requirements.


Travel

  • Ability to travel to Mohawk Medbuy offices if required.
