POSITION PURPOSE
The School of Pharmacy's Office of the Dean has an outstanding opportunity for a Finance Manager (Manager Of Program Operations). The Finance Manager provides financial, payroll, and administrative oversight and support for the Dean's Office, and serves as a consultant to departmental administrators and their fiscal staff. The Finance Manager reports to the Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration.

The Finance Manager provides financial, administrative, and payroll oversight and support for the Dean's Office, and serves as a consultant to departmental administrators and their fiscal staff. The Finance Manager reports to the Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Budget and Fiscal Management
Manage day-to-day business activities in the Dean's Office, which includes reconciliation, and student aid distribution.
Oversee and manage state, gift, and revenue budgets ensuring resources are spent according to UW policies and procedures.
Perform complex technical analysis and financial reporting for the school.
Provide lead support to the Rubenstein Pharmacy's fiscal staff.
Lead stabilization of Workday-Finance, playing a lead role in the school's continued change management. This includes directing and lead school-wide efforts towards user acceptance and proficiency, advocate with central UWFT for necessary system or other improvements, and analyze and evaluate School policies and procedures to ensure compliance, mitigate risk, and facilitate success in the new system; and develop mastery of system and reporting functions to fulfill responsibilities for school-wide business and operational planning, financial tracking and analysis, and decision support.
Lead management in several areas such as update worktag mapping, security role assignment and compliance.
Oversee the School's Finance HUB. This includes providing direction and support to all units in the School of Pharmacy regarding managing business processes and how to complete work in Workday-Finance; providing excellent customer service to varied stakeholders within the school, university and community; reviewing and approving accounting adjustments and manual journals, and month-end close processes in the Shared Environment Operations Lead role; and reviewing and approving accounts receivable transactions in the Shared Environment AR Operations Lead role.
Play a lead role in the School's annual budgeting process and prepare and analyze financial reports for School leadership.
Administrative Management
Develop and maintain Dean's Office and School policies and procedures; collaborate with administrative staff to coordinate paperwork flow and records management.
Lead process improvement efforts.
Serves as a representative for the Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration as appropriate (for example, grant reviews via SAGE).
Assign system permissions in HR & Finance systems.
Personnel Management
Supervise 2.0 FTE.
Provide leadership of the School's Shared Environment including setting policies, advancing professional development, and driving new staff hiring and growth.
Responsible for recruitment, hiring, on-boarding, training, goal and expectation setting, review and evaluate performance.
Determine appropriate training and development and where necessary disciplinary action.
Provide cross-training to ensure back-up systems are in place.
Payroll Management
Support general Workday-HR/Payroll transactions.
Support Dean's Office staff and student recruitments.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance or other related field.
Four to five years of experience in higher education finance.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and SharePoint.
Strong interpersonal skills and a customer service orientation; poised manner with the ability to express oneself clearly in all forms of communication, including verbal and written, one-on-one, group, etc.
Proven ability to work independently, problem solve, take initiative, set priorities, and handle multiple projects efficiently and effectively.
Demonstrated creativity, organizational ability, and strong attention to detail.
Utilizes specialized knowledge of the specific program and has delegated decision making authority to allocate resources and establish policies, methods, procedures, and work rules for the program.
Ensures program conforms to institutional and department policies and regulations.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with UW systems such as Workday and SAGE.
Willingness and ability to learn new systems and implement new processes in response to changes.
