Overview:
We are seeking a Financial Analyst intellectually curious and self-motivated Financial Analyst to join our finance team in San Ramon. The role will be responsible for day-to-day tasks as well as being part of high visibility projects aimed at making our current processes more efficient while keeping scalability in mind. Overall, the ideal candidate would have a finance background (or equivalent), is eager to learn new things, and take on challenges while maintaining high quality work in a rapidly growing organization. Key Responsibilities:
- Work with and create complex Excel modeling tools to analyze new and ongoing real estate developments.
- Prepare and analyze competitive market analysis for home building projects.
- Prepare monthly project updates to facilitate actual-to-budget variance analysis.
- Work closely with the Director of Finance on preparing quarterly corporate business plans and associated financial reporting.
- Recommend ways to automate reporting and streamline processes.
- Prepare project cash flow proforma and run proforma model sensitivities.
- Ability to interpret and analyze results from data extractions to identify patterns and trends, including financial results.
- Ability to identify user requirements and turn them into actionable information with accurate and understandable reports and applications.
- Ability to identify areas of process improvements and manage change implementation.
- Ability to learn and integrate new systems as needed.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Superior problem solving, attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage workflow and meet deadlines.
- Measuring critical financial metrics at the company-wide level as well as the department-level to drive more strategic analysis.
- Tracking KPIs and preparing associated financial reports.
- Perform other tasks based on company needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree; emphasis in business, finance and/or accounting preferred
- 1-3 years of experience within a finance group or equivalent.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational skills and analytical thinking.
- Self-starter with the ability to work well independently.
- Desire to expand experience and knowledge in the real estate development process.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including advanced skills in Excel including pivot tables, Inform XL queries and Datarails as well as having the experience to learn new software applications.
- Ability to collaborate with team members and display initiative.
- Self-starter and able to work independently with and without supervision.
- Forecasting and budget variance analysis.
- Experience in new home construction and real estate development.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Experience with NEWSTAR, FAST or similar programs preferred.
