What you'll be doing in the role:

  • Manage the daily accounting operations of the regional locations (2) to ensure that all transactions are recorded in compliance with dealership accounting processes and policies.
  • Manage the full controllership of the financials for the dealerships, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management review.
  • Collaborate with department managers to analyze financial performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to optimize profitability.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development and success.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate audits and tax filings as required.
  • Continually strives to improve data integrity and information reporting throughout the dealership.

Here's what you will need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or pursuing CPA designation is preferred.
  • 7 or more years' related accounting / finance experience, with at least 3 in a supervisory role.
  • Automotive industry experience is mandatory for this role, including a solid understanding of industry accounting principles and practices, including inventory management, floor plan financing, manufacturer incentives.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office. CDK experience is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), knowledge in CDK is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully managing and developing a team.
