THE OPPORTUNITY

Vir Biotechnology is looking for an experienced FP&A professional to support our organizations needs in planning and reporting. The individual is responsible for supporting all aspects of forecast, planning, and tracking related to various programs, monthly corporate management reporting, and collaboration and government funding reporting. The position requires strong excel, analytical, and cross functional collaboration skills, and will serve as subject matter expert in corporate financial tracking and on assigned programs.

This role is based in our San Francisco office with the expectations to be onsite 4 days a week.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Manage annual Budgeting and quarterly Forecasting process for assigned projects and departments, including budget and forecast template preparation, perform additional analyses that supports budget and forecasting needs, assist with budget submission, error check, roll up, and prepare PowerPoint slides as needed
  • Responsible for month end reporting, including actual vs. budget/forecast reports, purchase order and commitment tracking, change order updates, etc. to ensure clear visibility into manufacturing spend updates
  • Stay up to date on the latest strategic decisions and ensuring that planned spending in assigned programs and departments are aligned to our strategy
  • Develop strong working relationship with budget owners, schedule routine meetings to gather business updates, and act as the financial point of contact answering any questions or requests
  • Review purchase requests against budgeted amount and account coding
  • Prepare, maintain, and improve monthly executive financial management report, including cash management, corporate actual vs. budget, headcount tracking, and CapEx update
  • Continuously improve processes to enhance forecast inputs, accuracy of analyses and overall process efficiency, recommend and implement reporting, system, and process improvements
  • Ad hc requests and projects as required

WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU BRING
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, or related fields with 8-10 years of experience in finance related roles, previous biotech, pharmaceutical, or life science FP&A experience a plus
  • Proficient in standard MS software (Word, Excel and Power Point); Excel power user a plus, Proficiency in Netsuite, Adaptive Insights, and Coupa a plus
  • Excellent knowledge of US GAAP accounting and SOX requirements
  • Unquestionable ethics and integrity
  • Proactive and can-do attitude
  • Track record of effectively partnering across the organization with strong communication skills (verbal and written) and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Detail oriented with outstanding analytical, problem solving, and prioritization skills, as well as a strong sense with numbers
  • Collaborative style working across internal and external teams a must
