POSITION PURPOSE:

Responsible for the coordination and consolidation of financial reporting for the Company in order to provide reliable external and internal financial reporting (tax, insurance and GAAP). Preparing annual budgets, forecasts and annual audit fieldwork. This job will report directly to the CFO. Potential for growth to Corporate Controller.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • End Result: Provides support for the preparation of periodic budgets and forecasts (monthly, quarterly, annually) according to established Company accounting principles for consolidation and interpretation by internal and corporate management.


  • Key Activities to Realize End Result:
  • Provides support for the preparation of financial projections related to annual budgets, revised annual forecasts, rolling forecasts, and other forecasts and budgets as needed.
  • Adept in preparing and analyzing Profit & Loss reports, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow statements.
  • Coordinates the preparation of business unit reports (monthly, quarterly, annually).
  • Develops and maintains budget / actual models and coordinates production of the formal monthly consolidated reports.
  • Reporting of corporate SG&A expenses (budget to actuals) and coordination of monthly meetings to review findings. Works with cost center managers to prepare annual cost budgets. Enters budgets into SAP annually.
  • Interacts with departmental and corporate accounting personnel as needed to resolve issues related to proper reporting.
  • Maintains working knowledge of Company accounting methods and reporting as outlined in various accounting and reporting manuals and divisional reporting documentation.
  • Maintains proficiency in accounting software programs to efficiently transmit data

  • End Result: Provides financial forecasts used for decision-making by assisting in the preparation of annual budgets and rolling annual forecasts.


  • Key Activities to Realize End Result:
  • Consolidates the financials (Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow) of multiple companies for bank reporting.
  • Prepares financial forecasts of monthly and annual results as needed to assist in the analysis of Company performance and aid in the decision-making process.
  • Prepares SG&A/Overhead departmental budget variance discrepancy reports and analyses on a monthly basis.

  • End Result: Prepares various external reports on inventories, sales, production, and overall performance to assist management in the analysis of Company results on an individual and consolidated basis.


  • Key Activities to Realize End Result:
  • Assists in the preparation of data for management team meetings.
  • Prepares several governmental reports.
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly bank compliance certificates based on financials and submits to the bank to ensure covenant compliance.
  • Coordinates and prepares schedules and provides analyses for the external financial audits, sales and use tax audits, and various other audits and services performed by external entities.

  • End Result: Assists business unit (Finance and Accounting) departments as needed.


  • Key Activities to Realize End Result:
  • Assists CFO/Corporate Controller with special projects and other assigned tasks as needed.
  • Provides back-up assistance for various functions in business unit (Plant Controllers).
  • Additional duties may vary.

  • DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITIES:

    Describe the authority permitted by indicating decisions you are expected to make. Relate the nature of decisions that you routinely make without guidance from supervision.

    High. Should be capable of working independently to prepare financial reports in Excel or Power BI in accordance with GAAP.

    MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    State the minimum type and level of training and/or formal education and experience required to do your job.

    Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field from a 4-year accredited college.


    Related Experience:
    • 4-10 years related experience preferred.
    • CPA preferred.
    • Experience with financial reporting, corporate reporting or auditing a plus.

    Special Training or Competencies:
    • Detail-oriented.
    • Experience working with SAP.
    • Knowledge of GAAP.
    • Excellent organizational, writing, verbal and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrates proficiency in Excel, and other Microsoft Office Suite programs such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI.
    • Strong analytical skills. Ability to build accounting models for forecast, NPV analysis and ad hoc analysis.
    • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
    • Ability to multi-task.
    • Self-motivated.

    SPECIAL REMARKS/CHALLENGES

    Assure that all assignments are completed accurately and in a timely manner. The reports prepared by this person are used by the Board, external investors, Bankers and potential buyers. The person must be accurate in the details but also clearly and concisely communicate the big picture issues and the path-forward of each individual business unit. This role is a perfect stepping-stone for a future Corporate Controller or CFO in that you will touch all aspects of finance and accounting.
