Under limited supervision, this position will:
- Preparation of consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules required for notes to the consolidated financial statements and other schedules required for public filings, as well as preparation of internal monthly reporting packages and financial analysis including budget to actual analysis.
- Accurately review and post monthly journal entries.
- Oversee and manage the monthly financial close calendar and related checklists.
- Review account reconciliations to ensure that records are accurate, complete, and in adherence with policies, industry guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and work with both internal and external auditors to ensure proper support and schedules are provided in order to complete quarterly and yearly audit test work.
- Work with SEC reporting group to conduct technical accounting research and analysis. Provide input to whitepaper drafts for the implementation of new accounting standards.
- Responsible for managing and reviewing the activities of Financial Accountants. Provide support, training, feedback, and conduct initial performance reviews.
- Ensure accurate calculations and documentation of operating and finance leases.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly lease operating expenditure and capital accruals. Monitor cost, key operating metrics, and cost drivers. Provide internal teams with key operational and financial metrics.
- Liaise with other departments to ensure a seamless operational process and act as main point of contact for financial reporting related matters.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Experience, Licensure (minimum level required)
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
- Field of Study: Accounting, Business or Finance.
- At least four (4) years of experience in Public Accounting at a Big Four or large regional firm, including SEC filing experience.
- At least two (2) years of Oil & Gas Industry experience.
- Supervisory or management experience.
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
CORE COMPETENCIES

- Excellent knowledge of GAAP with emphasis in oil and gas accounting combined with the ability to research, propose, and apply new and existing transactions to complex accounting issues.
- Excellent knowledge of government rules and regulations including SEC reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and its requirements. Experience with internal controls over financial reporting (ICOFR).
- Strong financial and business acumen and technical financial reporting skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply accounting standards and knowledge in an increasingly complex and dynamic environment.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in Excel including PivotTables, V-Lookups.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate at all levels and disciplines of the organization.
- Good time management skills and ability to set and meet deadlines. Able to prioritize, coordinate, and maintain multiple projects with high level of quality and productivity.
- Ability to build strong relationships and work cross functionally with internal and external teams.
- Able to help, support, and work effectively to lead a team. Able to present, demonstrate, teach, or guide others in performance of assigned work.
