Job Description

The successful candidate for this position will serve as a Discipline Lead or Area Lead with responsibility for fire protection scope on assigned projects. The purpose of this position is to provide the essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and direction as listed. Job duties include:
Assist in the development and review of project baseline documents to meet project requirements and goals
Develop, review and monitor/maintain estimates, schedules, progress reports, including workforce forecasts
Develop and review specifications, including design criteria based on applicable local codes, client, and underwriter requirements
Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve moderately complex engineering problems
Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution
Provide technical support in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting
Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
Other duties as assigned

Basic Job Requirements
Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and six (6) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
Professional registration, or ability to obtain professional registration, (PE License) in fire protection or mechanical engineering
Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials
Practical field experience
Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs

Preferred Qualifications
Life sciences and pharma industry experience.
Semiconductor and micro electronics industry experience
Ability to utilize AutoCAD to produce 2D diagrammatic drawings and sketches
Ability to design fire protection systems utilizing Revit and/or AutoSprink
Ability to perform hydraulic calculations using either AutoSprink, HASS, or PipeNet
Practical field experience related to the installation, start-up, and commissioning of fire protection and alarm systems
Experience in industry-standard fire and egress modeling software tools, such as FDS, PyroSim, etc.

Other Job Requirements
Experience in an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company.
Knowledge in design, installation, and selection of active and passive fire protection, fire alarm, and mass notification systems.
Continue education and knowledge of industry-wide fire protection related information and technologies as well as new regulations and trends through continuing education, conferences, and/or periodicals, and continue to develop in-depth specialization
Supervise and train subordinates assigned to her/his area
