BASIC PURPOSE & SCOPE

The Fixed Asset Accounting Manager will oversee all fixed asset and capital project accounting activities for Kubota Tractor Corporation (KTC), Kubota Credit Corporation (KCC), Kubota North America (KNA), Kubota Insurance Corporation (KIC), and Kubota Tractor Acceptance Corporation (KTAC). The position will lead annual planning and budgeting for capital projects, financial reports and presentations, and investment return analysis. Evaluate and implement opportunities for improved efficiency and effectiveness in accounting and budgeting operations. This position will require the personality to be able to work collaboratively with team members from multiple functions.

PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES
  • Oversee all fixed asset accounting activities, including acquisition, classification, depreciation, and disposal in accordance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies.
  • Manage capital projects accounting, including CIP tracking, appropriation requests, timely capitalization, and proper accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies.
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing for fixed assets and capital projects.
  • Review and approve fixed asset and capital project related journal entries, account reconciliations, and rollforwards, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Oversee timely and accurate preparation of financial reporting and disclosures pertaining to fixed assets and capital projects.
  • Lead annual planning and budgeting activities for capital projects, including collaboration with multiple departments, presentation to executive team, and reporting to parent company.
  • Coordinate and manage periodic physical verification of fixed assets.
  • Work with internal and external auditors to support fixed asset and capital project related audit requests, providing accurate information on time.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging technology, automation and best practices, to optimize closing processes, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Provide capital vs expense accounting guidance to non-accounting staff.
  • Manage administrative aspects of the fixed assets accounting team including workload distribution, performance evaluation, training, and development opportunities.
  • Additional duties as assigned by management


SPECIAL PROJECTS

Conduct technical accounting research, prepare ad-hoc reports or memorandums, and lead or support special projects as directed by leadership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
  • MBA or CPA license preferred.


SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:
  • 7+ years progressive accounting experience under GAAP including fixed assets and capital projects.
  • 3+ years managing an accounting related department required.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience applying GAAP.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to drive process improvements, work independently, and think objectively.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial concepts to non-financial partners.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Diligent and highly organized, with the ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to empower and develop a team.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment, with the expectation of increasing responsibility and scope over time as proficiency in the position develops.
  • Sophisticated user of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with a major ERP system (SAP strongly preferred).
