The Fixed Equipment Specialist at the Ascend Chocolate Bayou site performs compliance and quality control inspections, works with Operations and Engineering to resolve mechanical integrity issues and develops repair plans for equipment and piping.

TARGETED OUTCOMES
  • Ensure all fixed equipment is suitable for safe operation in design conditions through the necessary technical inspections.
  • Inspection frequency and updates maintained in the fixed equipment histories in the computerized maintenance management system.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to company safety standards and practices and to legal regulations, alerting others regarding potential hazards or concern
  • Assist in developing Inspection Test Plans that are highly effective and capable of detecting damage mechanisms
  • Make complete inspections of process equipment, for damage and operability using available inspection tools, interpret the results and recommend corrective actions for the purpose of assuring property protection, safety, and continuous operations.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and conduct root cause failure analysis investigations on failed equipment, develop action plans to eliminate repeat failures, and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure that all inspection plans/strategies are in place. Consistently monitor the plans to optimize
  • Work with production to identify key areas for reliability improvements, develop action plans, and work to implement action plans
  • Provide technical support to all Mechanical Integrity Specialists and Mechanical Integrity Inspectors as it relates to mechanical repairs, troubleshooting problems, and equipment installation issues
  • Demonstrates and stays abreast of developments and advancements in technology (i.e., engineering and inspection equipment and techniques).
  • Exhibits knowledge and use of SAP as an effective maintenance management tool for analyzing equipment information and history.
  • Inspect new fabrication and construction of chemical process equipment and piping for compliance with established codes and standards in outside fabrication shops or on-site as required by specific job procedures.
  • Make construction materials and coatings recommendations, specify welding procedures, special heat-treating requirements, and non-destructive examination required on new and repair work to all plant groups.

  • Reports to: Mechanical Reliability Manager
  • Team Members: Engineers, Fixed Equipment Specialists and Fixed Equipment Inspectors.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 5 (five) years' experience in the operation, repair or inspection of pressure or otherwise meet the experience prerequisites for API 510 certification.
  • Must have a minimum of one API Inspector certification (API-510, API-653, or API-570).
  • Expected to have 2 (two) API inspector certifications within 24 months of hire, one being
  • Applied knowledge of reliability centered maintenance practices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of predictive technologies for fixed equipment evaluations.
  • Demonstrated use of SAP or other CMMS as an effective maintenance management tool for gathering equipment information and history.


REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Knowledge of the application limitations of all non-destructive examination (NDE).
  • Computer Systems: Microsoft Suite (Outlook, TEAMS, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio), SAP, SharePoint, PCMS Reliability Software.
  • Critical thinking: use of logic, reasoning, and calculations to identify alternative solutions, conclusions, and approaches to solve equipment problems
  • Knowledge of all established codes, their fabrication, quality control and testing requirements as applicable to chemical processes.
  • Communication: ability to listen and understand information and ideas and to express thought and ideas clearly and concisely through oral and written communication
  • Maintains good working relations with co-workers and outside business contacts. Conducts all relationships in a manner that contributes to Ascend's goal of being a good corporate citizen.
