Position Introduction/Key Duties

Cimarron is seeking mid-level and senior-level Flight Software Verification Engineers to support the Guidance, Navigation, Controls, and Propulsion (GNCP) flight software efforts for NASA's Artemis II mission and Docking Phase 2 activities on the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV). The selected candidates for these positions can work either at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX or Littleton, CO.

Working on NASA's Artemis II mission and Docking Phase 2 activities means contributing to the return of humans to the Moon and advancing deep space exploration!

This is a hybrid role that will allow for some remote work!

These positions are expected to last at least 9 months, but are likely to be extended.

Key Duties:
  • Support GNCP flight software verification activities for Artemis II.
  • Develop, validate, and verify GNCP and Backup Flight Software (BFS) Rendezvous Proximity Operations and Docking (RPOD) software, as directed by the technical point of contact.
  • Review requirements and identify corresponding success criteria.
  • Create and implement Python-based test cases and scripts to verify flight software functionality.
  • Follow the full verification lifecycle, including test development, execution, and qualification review.
  • Review existing GNCP regression tests, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrections.
  • Execute tests in both software and hardware test bed environments.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Deliver finalized verification of requirement success criteria, including Python test scripts, supporting utilities, updated DOORS documentation, test result files, and qualification checklists.

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
  • 1 or more years of related experience.
  • Experience with Python scripting for software testing.
  • Understanding of requirements-based testing and success criteria development.
  • Familiarity with DOORS or other requirements management tools.
  • Ability to work hands-on in both software simulation and hardware environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline and 5 or more years of professional experience, Master's degree and 3 or more years of related experience, or Ph.D.

Additional Requirements for Senior-Level Candidates:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline and 9 or more years of professional experience, Master's degree and 7 or more years of related experience, or Ph.D and 4 or more years of related experience.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Experience supporting a NASA program.
