Position Summary
Saskatoon Co-op invites applications for the position of Food Division Manager in our Administration Building located in Saskatoon, SK.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Food and Pharmacy Division Manager is a key member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), contributing to the execution of the strategic plan for the Co-op's sustainment, growth and development. The position supports the Director of Operations, leads the food store and pharmacy managers, and works in partnership with the division leaders in liquor, consumer fuels, Ag and HABS, as well as the entire leadership team at all levels to support initiatives and ensure the viability of the retail. Responsibilities for this position include the following:
Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with the Director of Operations, Saskatoon Co-op's SLT and FCL Food Operations team to annually review and develop the Co-op's strategic plan in support of the Co-op's values, vision and mission and networks to achieve consistency with the CRS. Support the set direction and articulate desired outcomes for strategic implementation-ensuring the guideposts set out for execution at various levels are achievable-allowing for department managers to create action plans in support of Saskatoon Co-op's goals and priorities.
2. Ensure customer service standards are met or exceeded. This includes visits to the locations to ensure this is a priority. Ensure that employees attend mandatory customer service training sessions, updating current customer service policy and expectations to ensure we are known as leaders in providing great customer service and providing quick and timely responses to customer concerns. Customer service training plan is prepared annually as part of the budget process for all food division employees. It includes onsite training, E-Learning and FCL sponsored classes through the Co-operative Learning Centre.
3. Achieve budgeted financial goals including sales, margins, expenses, employee productivity, inventory turns and overall contribution. Ensure that each food department meets, surpasses budget goals ensuring sustainability into the future and allow for continued growth. Provide leadership and direction during the budget process to meet Saskatoon Co-op's overall goals. Provide training to new managers during the budget process and then follow-up at period end. Work with team members to make changes when goals are not being met and add where needed Key Performance Measurements to track success.
4. Provides team leadership through engaging and encouraging people, continuous learning, and safe work practices, modeling effective and consistent talent management. This includes but is not limited to performance management and coaching to ensure performance targets are achieved, developing team members for growth and succession, creating engaging work environments, and having a talent plan for the respective division.
5. Develops and fosters strong working relationships with others across multiple internal departments to exchange, report and present information, to advise and collaborate on complex issues and solutions, including members of the SLT and other stakeholders, for the purpose of achieving the best outcomes for Saskatoon Co-op.
6. Business Planning / Board Relations- Prepare the Food Division annual Business Plan and present it to Saskatoon Co-op's senior leadership and Board of Directors. Meet when directed with the Saskatoon Co-op Board to provide updates on both financial results and business plan objectives.
Requirements
Post-Secondary Certificate required, preference for diploma or degree with a major in marketing.
10+ years of grocery industry experience including the leadership of Department Management within a large retail department.
You may be required to undergo a background and substance test in accordance with Saskatoon Co-op policies.
