Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Border Security Surveillance Systems Field Service Engineer/Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of advanced surveillance systems deployed at border security locations. Your expertise will ensure the continuous operation and effectiveness of these critical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain surveillance systems used for border security, including radar systems, thermal cameras, CCTV, and other specialized equipment.
- Conduct/Review site surveys and assessments to determine optimal placement and installation requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections of surveillance systems to ensure reliability and optimal performance under varying environmental conditions.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity in a timely manner.
- Provide technical support and training to operational staff on the use and maintenance of surveillance systems.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Stay updated on advancements in surveillance technology and security protocols and recommend enhancements or upgrades to existing systems.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working in potentially hazardous or sensitive environments.
- Build sustainable relationships of trust through open and interactive communication
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience with a High School Diploma.
- Proven experience as a Field Service Engineer or Technician in the surveillance systems industry, with specific experience in border security systems preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of surveillance system components, including radar, cameras, sensors, and their integration with command-and-control systems.
- Hands-on experience with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of surveillance hardware and software.
- Familiarity with network setup, protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs), and cybersecurity considerations related to surveillance systems.
- Detail oriented with strong follow through and organizational skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team in demanding environments.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel to remote border locations, overseas and work irregular hours as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., FLIR, Hikvision, Bosch, etc.) or project management (PMP) are a plus.
- Experience with video analytics, GIS mapping, and multi-sensory data integration in surveillance systems.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and best practices in border security and surveillance.
