The Core Payment Products team is focused on understanding our members' unique needs and ensuring that our products are practical, efficient, and responsive to their challenges and opportunities. The Technical Requirements Lead is pivotal in defining, analyzing, and driving the delivery of comprehensive technical requirements for the Future State of Retail Batch (FSRB) project. This role demands a deep understanding of systems architecture, regulatory frameworks, and large-scale solution delivery. Collaborating closely with cross-functional stakeholders, technical teams, and subject matter experts (SMEs), the Technical Requirements Lead ensures that all technical requirements are meticulously documented, aligned with the strategic objectives, and translated into scalable, compliant, and future-proof solutions. Acting as the key interface between business and technical teams, this role is essential to seamlessly integrating business needs with technology.

The Technical Requirements Lead plays a critical role in defining, analyzing, and documenting technical requirements for the project. This role operates at a senior level, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including industry subject matter experts (SMEs), regulatory bodies, and key partners. The incumbent will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and technical experts and represent the FSRB program in external discussions, ensuring that technical requirements align with industry standards, regulatory expectations, and organizational goals. Additionally, this role shares responsibilities in presenting and communicating key technical aspects of the program to external stakeholders, reinforcing alignment and driving informed decision-making.

This is a temporary position for an 18-month term.

| A day in the life

Your responsibilities as a Technical Requirements Lead will include but are not limited to:

Technical Requirements Management

  • Lead the end-to-end process of gathering, analyzing, and validating technical requirements from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify and resolve ambiguities in requirements, refining and prioritizing them in collaboration with key stakeholders.


Alignment and Compliance

  • Ensure technical requirements are fully aligned with functional and non-functional requirements, addressing both regulatory compliance and operational resilience.
  • Maintain alignment with organizational policies and external regulatory requirements, ensuring technical solutions are secure, compliant, and reliable.


Solution Design Collaboration

  • Translate complex business and operational needs into detailed technical specifications, bridging the gap between strategy and implementation.
  • Collaborate with solution architects and technical leads to support solution design, ensuring scalability, technical feasibility, and adherence to enterprise architecture standards.


Documentation and Validation

  • Ensure all technical documentation is comprehensive, consistent, and accessible to development and quality assurance teams.
  • Participate in solution validation, ensuring the delivered technical solution meets the defined requirements and quality standards

| What you need to be successful

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in requirements gathering, technical analysis, project management, or a similar role in payments solutions, software development or corporate systems.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and system integration practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address technical challenges effectively.
  • Proficiency in creating technical documentation, including system specifications and workflows.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities within tight timelines.
  • Occasional travel will be required
  • Eligibility to successfully complete background checks that will be carried out by Payments Canada, including criminal, credit, identity, employment, and education checks.

  • Experience working on regulatory or compliance-driven projects (banking, payments, telco) is a strong asset.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.

| Salary range

  • Based on qualifications and experience: $112,364 and $140,455.
