Description:
Franklin International, a leading manufacturer of adhesives, coatings, and sealants is currently seeking a General Accounting Manager. This position is responsible for overseeing the accuracy and integrity of Franklin's financial records by managing the general ledger, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing timely and reliable financial reporting by leading a team responsible for recording, reconciling, and analyzing all financial transactions across the organization.
Fundamental Job Tasks:
Managing the general ledger team:
Supervising staff responsible for posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports.
Ensuring compliance with accounting standards:
Monitoring adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls to maintain data accuracy.
Monthly and year-end closing process:
Overseeing the closing process, including account reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments to ensure accurate financial statements.
Financial reporting:
Preparing and analyzing financial reports for management, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Identifying and resolving discrepancies:
Investigating and correcting errors in the general ledger to maintain data integrity.
Internal audit support:
Collaborating with internal departments to review financial controls and processes.
Internal tax support:
Collaborating with tax manager to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulations.
System management:
Implementing and maintaining accounting software and automation to streamline the general ledger process.
Improve efficiency:
Identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and implement best practices.
Provide training:
Mentoring team members and provide training as needed.
Knowledge and Skills:
Professional status as demonstrated by a four-year business degree and Certified Public Accountant certification, plus 5 years of practical corporate audit experience, preferably manufacturing exposure. Personal computer skills with Microsoft Word and Excel are required. Must have thorough knowledge of US GAAP, and proven ability to meet tight deadlines, ensure accuracy, and collaborate with Tax Manager as needed.
