General Counsel, Employee Benefits
As the General Counsel, Employee Benefitsfor Honeywell, you will be responsible for all aspects of supervising andcoordinating the efforts of a legal work and counseling related to US andnon-US welfare plans/benefits, corporate leave policies, and definedcontribution plans. This position will also be responsible for US executive andboard of directors non-qualified defined contribution plans. You willanticipate and mitigate potential legal problems within the Company, anddeveloping strategies to avoid costly litigation and reduce potential areas ofrisk. You will advise the company and senior management on a broad range ofprovincial and federal regulatory and compliance matters, including handling ofM&A transactional work, especially welfare plan/defined contribution planintegration, mixing of benefits, pension plans and integration from related M&Aactivities. This position will be based out of our Charlotte, NC office, on a3/2 Hybrid work schedule.
KeyResponsibilities:
Delivery of legal services
Collaborate on strategic issues
Coaching and development
Develop standardized processes
Influence senior management
Manage external counsel
Act as trusted advisor
Rapidly assess legal risks
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Provide strategic legal advice and guidance to the executive leadership team
Oversee all legal matters, including contracts, litigation, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance
Manage a team of attorneys and legal professionals
Develop and implement legal strategies to protect the company's interests and mitigate risks
Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and industry standards
Advise on mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions
Handle legal disputes and litigation matters
YOU MUSTHAVE:
Juris Doctor (JD)
10+ years' experience counseling large employers re: all aspects of US welfare and defined contribution (especially 401(k)) plans
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
WE VALUE:
Preferably experience in a traditional employee benefits law practice
Strong leadership and management skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
Commitment to ethical conduct and professional integrity
