Responsibilities
Supervise dental assistants, dental hygienists, associate dentists, and administrative staff, and communicate with support staff regarding patient care plans
Identify oral diseases and provide appropriate treatment for common dental problems including cleanings, restoration, root canals, and surgical extractions
Show patients how to use recommended devices for orthodontics and dental appliances, such as retainers and dentures and educate on the importance of good oral hygiene
Refer patient to dental specialists such as pediatric dentists, orthodontists, endodontists, and periodontists when appropriate
Coordinate and perform preventive dental care treatments such as sealants, x-rays, flossing, fillings, and fluoride applications, and cosmetic dental services such as whitening when indicated
Qualifications
A minimum of two years of dentistry experience in clinical or private practice is required
Computer proficiency is desired
Up-to-date knowledge of dental standards and guidelines, public health standards, and dental medicine trends and advances is desired
A Bachelor's degree and DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) or DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) degree from an ADA accredited dental school are required
State license that is current, unrestricted, and in good standing
