POSITION SUMMARY
The General Superintendent is responsible for the direct supervision of Supervisors for the site projects, and the Lead Project Manager/Estimator for Montreal, and oversees all construction aspects of the project, use and maintenance of equipment, and effective use and distribution of assigned labor. The General Superintendent fully understands major business components and implications relating to managing construction activities.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES & DUTIES
Jobs site responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Manages Supervisors on multiple job site, while providing insight to leadership in the continuous improvement of methodology, tools and approaches using fundamentals of project management practices.
2. Works with the Health and Safety Officer to uphold H&M safety, including the investigation of incidents and claims as required.
3. Works with the Asbex Project Management team to estimate jobs.
4. Works with the Site Supervisors to uphold quality management protocols.
5. Assigns and coordinates labour requirements at sites for all projects.
6. Facilitates coordination of equipment, procurement, scheduling, etc. and interfaces with local external stakeholders to ensure cooperation.
7. Visits job sites to monitor and inspect equipment schedule and purchases, job conditions, and daily progress.
8. Communicates with influence to client groups and team members.
9. Ensures that team goals, roles, protocols, and business relationships are consistent with high-performance requirements and congruent with the company's strategy.
10. Leads by example in an environment that fosters trust and candor.
11. Maintains personal accountability and communicates assertively and constructively.
12. Supervises job assigned Supervisor to ensure construction activities are performed in accordance with job specifications and regulations.
13. In consultation with Human Resources, manage the performance and talent development process for Site Supervisors and Lead Project Manager/Estimator for Montreal.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Specialized training in the abatement and containment of asbestos, lead and mould.
Other Experience or Training:
- 10 -15 years of experience on construction projects in a supervisory or superintendent role.
- Familiarity with standard construction project documents.
Technical Skills:
- Strong computer literacy, experience with Google, web applications, etc.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, CAD, e-plans and Excel. Google G-Suite preferred.
- Ability to read and understand plans and specs.
Other Qualifications:
- Demonstrated proficiency and understanding of the management of site logistics and contract operations on commercial and industrial sites
- Must be construction-document and drawing literate, with knowledge of all phases of construction.
- Must have experience and proficiency in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control.
- Highly motivated with strong organizational, analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities.
- Self-motivated with an ability to lead a team of asbestos abatement supervisors.
- Experience estimating in the construction sector is considered a strong asset.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal, in English are mandatory
- Ability to communicate in French is a strong asset
- Specialization in abatement of asbestos, lead, and mold.
- Proactive and works well under pressure with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Understands and respects Health and Safety at the workplace.
- Candidates with their own reliable vehicle will be considered an asset.
- Able and willing to work flexible work hours, primarily days
- Occasional travel within Canada will be required
- Excellent time management skills with an emphasis on communicating clear and realistic expectations
- Flexibility and adaptability to work effectively in a variety of settings and as a member of a team.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships both internally and externally.
- Must be able to obtain a Secret Level II security clearance, which includes passing a criminal records check.
