Position Overview:
Seeking a full-time, board-eligible/board-certified General Surgeon to join our two General Surgeons at Okanogan County Public Hospital District No. 3 d/b/a Mid Valley Hospital. We are a Critical Access Hospital Level IV Trauma Center located in beautiful Omak, Washington. Our General Surgeons are responsible for performing a wide range of surgical procedures and providing patient care in both emergency and elective situations. Working in a rural hospital often requires the surgeon to handle a broader scope of cases, as there may be fewer specialized services available. This role involves close collaboration with other medical professionals in a rural setting, ensuring high-quality care and improving health outcomes for the community.

Required Qualifications: Medical Degree (MD or DO): Must hold a valid medical degree from an accredited institution. Board Certification: Board-certified or board-eligible in General Surgery. State Medical License: Must hold or be eligible to obtain a medical license in Washington State. Experience: Preferably 2+ years of experience in a general surgery practice, especially in rural or low-resource settings. Skills: Strong clinical skills in surgery, trauma care, emergency response, and patient management. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in rural or underserved communities. Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification. Flexibility and adaptability to handle a wide variety of cases. Key Competencies: Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and the medical team. Decision-making: Strong decision-making skills, particularly in high-pressure or emergency situations. Leadership: Ability to lead surgical teams and guide patient care in the operating room. Cultural Sensitivity: Awareness of the diverse needs and concerns of rural populations. Flexibility: Willingness to take on a variety of roles, often beyond surgery, in a rural hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform General Surgeries: Conduct a broad spectrum of surgeries, including abdominal, soft tissue, trauma, and emergency surgeries.
- Patient Care: Provide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care for patients. Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop tailored treatment plans.
- Emergency Response: Act as an on-call surgeon for emergency situations, including trauma, critical care surgeries, and other urgent medical cases.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with primary care physicians, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated care for patients.
- Outpatient Clinics: Provide consultations and follow-up care in outpatient settings to ensure continuity of care for surgical patients.
- Rural Health Expertise: Understand and manage the unique healthcare challenges in a rural community, such as limited resources, patient access issues, and diverse healthcare needs.
- Community Involvement: Engage in health education, prevention programs, and community outreach to improve public health awareness.
- Administrative Duties: Complete necessary documentation, maintain patient records, and participate in hospital meetings or committees as required.
