Job Description

AQUALIS is seeking a Geophysicist to support our mission of preserving and protecting water resources through advanced stormwater and wastewater management solutions. This role involves conducting geophysical surveys, data analysis, and subsurface investigations to assess stormwater infrastructure, groundwater conditions, soil stability, etc. The ideal candidate will apply their expertise to identify environmental risks, optimize drainage solutions, and support sustainable water engineering projects.

This position requires collaboration with engineers, estimators, and project managers to provide actionable insights that enhance stormwater system performance, green infrastructure development, and regulatory compliance.

Duties:
  • Conduct geophysical surveys using GPR, ERT, seismic surveys, and other subsurface imaging techniques.
  • Analyze and interpret geophysical, hydrogeological, and environmental data
  • Perform water quality testing, soil/sediment analysis, and structural integrity assessments.
  • Work closely with engineers to integrate geophysical findings into project designs.
  • Collaborate with estimators to provide cost assessments for geophysical investigations and infrastructure projects.
  • Support project managers by providing technical expertise on stormwater and wastewater system evaluations.
  • Assist in the development of proposals, reports, and regulatory documentation.
  • Travel up to 40%
  • Other duties as assigned


Position Requirements

Position Requirements / Knowledge and Experience:
  • 10+ years of field experience conducting geophysical surveys, environmental site assessments, and system testing/analysis.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Geophysicist, GIT, or PE license in Geophysics/Engineering).
  • Expertise in geophysical testing and analysis, including water quality testing, soil/sediment analysis, subsurface imaging, and infrastructure integrity assessments.
  • Proficiency with geophysical survey methods, such as Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT).
  • Strong understanding of subsurface conditions, including groundwater movement, soil permeability, and contamination assessment.
  • Experience evaluating stormwater infrastructure, including pipelines, retention basins and infiltration systems.
  • Ability to train and mentor staff on geophysical techniques, data interpretation, and testing procedures.
  • Familiarity with local and state stormwater regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
