Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in subsurface investigations, foundation design, and geotechnical analysis, with a strong understanding of NYC and Long Island soil conditions. This position requires expertise in soil mechanics, geotechnical software, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and oversee subsurface investigation programs, including borings, test pits, and in-situ testing.
- Analyze soil laboratory test results and develop geotechnical parameters for design.
- Prepare geotechnical engineering reports with site-specific recommendations.
- Design shallow and deep foundation systems based on soil conditions.
- Evaluate soil liquefaction potential and settlement calculations.
- Develop soil improvement and ground modification recommendations.
- Monitor earthwork operations during the construction phase.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus (Master's preferred).
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in New York and New Jersey.
- 4-8 years of geotechnical engineering experience with a focus on soil mechanics.
- Strong knowledge of NYC and Long Island soil conditions.
- Experience with geotechnical design software (e.g., gINT, SLIDE, SETTLE).
- Excellent technical writing and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with urban soil conditions and high groundwater tables.
- Familiarity with NYC Building Code and local geotechnical requirements.
- Expertise in soil dynamics, earthquake engineering, and problematic soils.
- Project management and SUE investigation experience.
