Job Title: Registered Nurse - Outpatient Dialysis
Job Specialty: Acute Level 1 RN - Outpatient
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 4 x 10-hour shifts (40 hours per week)
Guaranteed Hours: Not specified
Experience: One year of experience in a dialysis environment as a Registered Nurse
License: RN Licensure
Certifications: BLS through AHA or RQI
Must-Have: Proficiency in hemodialysis equipment and peritoneal dialysis exchanges
Job Description:
- Apply nursing theory, technical, and communication skills to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families.
- Assess patient needs and develop a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide direct care, evaluate patient progress, and coordinate care delivery throughout the patient's episode.
- Develop specialized skills in caring for adults, adolescents, and geriatric populations with medical conditions requiring dialysis.
- Accountable for patient and family education to assist in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing.
- Perform admission and discharge assessments prior to and after dialysis treatments, documenting any deviations from the norm and treatment plan.
- Educate patients on an ongoing basis to ensure optimal well-being in all aspects of renal health.
- Review primary patients on a quarterly basis, collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care.
- Complete annual Interdisciplinary Care Plans for primary patients in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Act as a liaison in coordinating patient care activities within the healthcare system.
- Demonstrate familiarity with emergency equipment.
