Job Title: Level 2 Registered Nurse - Emergency Department
Job Specialty: Acute - Emergency Nurse
Job Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day/Night/Weekend/Holiday Rotational (3x12-hour shifts) with 2 On Call shifts every 4 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: Full-Time
Experience: Minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least one year in an Emergency Department setting
License: Registered Nurse Licensure
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Stroke Certification (Must be AHA or RQI)
Must-Have: Compliance with mandatory infection prevention strategies
Job Description:
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate care using nursing theory, technical, and communication skills.
- Assess patient needs and identify urgent or emergent care priorities collaboratively.
- Provide direct care, apply appropriate interventions, and evaluate patient progress.
- Demonstrate skill in invasive and non-invasive procedures and appropriate therapeutic interventions for emergency situations.
- Utilize relationship-based care principles to alleviate patient anxiety, provide information, and address pain/discomfort and safety.
- Conduct initial triage, establish rapport with patients/families, and assign care priority according to Triage Standards.
- Perform primary and secondary patient assessments to identify critical needs and necessary interventions.
- Address and document physiological, psychosocial, emotional, and cultural needs of patients and families.
- Encourage and promote mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members for optimal patient outcomes.
- Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures and treatments, and make appropriate post-emergency care referrals.
- Educate patients and families for continued care at home, assessing learning styles and retention of information.
- Maintain a patient-centered focus, ensuring clear communication and anticipating patient and family needs. Maintain awareness of the patient's condition throughout the emergency department stay and update communication boards as needed.
