We are a talented, hardworking group that share values and characteristics that drive client, professional, and personal success. geocgi is looking for a GIS analyst to assist a DoD client in creating and documenting the process of creating a Military Installation Map (MIM) with IGI&S data. The incumbent most possess the ability to create professional grade cartographic products, transform and manipulate SDSFIE/TDS/GGDM data, and script common activities using Python or other languages. He/She will be expected to communicate and coordinate with other staff and/or contractors, project management, DoD clients, and installation personnel. The candidate will execute the responsibilities of a GIS Analyst supporting MIM creation as a part of a DoD IGI&S Program, which include:

  • Work with Installation personnel to assess current data holdings.
  • Extract, manipulate, and transform geospatial data into several DoD data models.
  • Work with a wide variety of geospatial data sources including IGI&S installation data, HSIP, HIFLD, and OpenStreetMap.
  • Produce professional cartographic products and templates (.mxt).
  • Effectively document and communicate the process of transforming installation IGI&S data into standardized NGA MIM products, to include the development of several Standard Operating Procedure documents, white papers, and data migration crosswalks.
  • Gain required approval for the publication of any MIMs created.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on how MIM development will impact the existing geospatial enterprise system.
  • A strong understanding of information technologies including web services, RDBMS, networking, and storage technologies.
  • Excellent written communication skills and documentation habits to include but not limited to; decisions, developed procedures, configuration, and/or custom scripts.
  • Automation of tasks and procedures via various scripting languages.

The following are requirements of the potential candidate:
  • Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geography, or IT related field
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite including Excel and Access.
  • Proficiency with Esri products including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS
  • Ability to create professional grade cartographic products
  • Knowledge of DoD and Federal GIS Data Standards and Policy, including SDSFIE, TDS, and GGDM
  • Ability to work independently and proactively to take initiative to solve complex problems
  • Excellent written communication skills and documentation habits to include but not limited to; decisions, developed procedures, configuration, and/or custom scripts.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
  • US Citizen

The following are desired capabilities and experience of the potential candidate:
  • Experience creating MIMs
  • Experience in DoD Installation Geospatial Information and Services (IGI&S) or other DoD installation functional areas, and military working environments
  • Intermediate to advanced skills using Python to automate activities.
  • Experience creating web-based applications and solutions in ArcGIS environments.
  • GISP Certification
  • Comp TIA Security+ Certification
