THE ROLE

We are looking for a Global Technology Solutions Engineer to join our team.

The Global Technology Solutions Engineer plays a critical role in building, supporting, and executing RMS's digital and metrology-driven initiatives. From digital job pack creation and 3D modeling to field support and project execution, this is a hands-on engineering role for someone who thrives in a multi-disciplinary, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will collaborate across field service, metrology, design, sales, and external partners to develop and deliver technology-centric solutions for turnaround execution.

MACHINING, QUALITY & INSPECTION
  • Experience with RTC360 scanning or Polyworks software preferred.
  • Familiarity with reverse engineering workflows and inspection tools preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in field service or shop-based repair/inspection environments preferred.
  • Exposure to automation, scripting, or digital workflow development experience preferred.

PRIMARY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Digital Job Packs & Modeling
  • Develop and deliver digital job packs including 3D models, fit sheets, and RTC360 scan environments.
  • Work closely with RMS Design Team on the creation of 3D models.
  • Review job packs with field service to ensure technical accuracy and execution readiness.
  • Support MT (Metrology Technicians) with all digital assets required for inspection and reporting.
  • Over time, learn to build in-house animations to support visualization of assembly and inspection procedures.

Nameplate & Component Scanning
  • Implement nameplate/component scanning processes for all incoming equipment.
  • Evaluate cost-benefit and develop KPIs for engineering replacement parts to support customer needs for reduced cost and lead time.
  • Collaborate with sales to align customer insights with RMS offerings and identify high-impact scanning opportunities.

Modeling Support & CAD
  • Create 3D models and detailed drawings to support:
  • Special tooling for field service
  • Rotor stands and inspection mandrels
  • Parts manufacturing and custom components
  • Maintain drawing control via SolidWorks Vault or equivalent systems.

Project Management
  • Own engineering project management for assigned tasks, particularly involving in-house manufacturing of components.
  • Manage scope, timeline, and communication for digital/modeling deliverables related to turnaround jobs or custom hardware.

Turnaround (TA) Preparation & Execution
  • Prepare procedures, fit sheets, and modeling deliverables for shop and field turnarounds.
  • Support execution of TA activities both in the shop and field with modeling, documentation, and technical oversight.
  • Collaborate with metrology and product engineers to resolve technical issues and optimize inspection workflows.

Strategic Metrology Integration
  • Work with product engineers to expand use of metrology across different RMS product lines and equipment types.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce metrology into equipment without dedicated product engineers (e.g., extruders, end cutters, etc.).
  • Build relationships with external contacts to deepen equipment-specific knowledge and expand RMS's service scope.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, CAD modeling, or field engineering required.
  • Desire to become proficient with 3D modeling software (SolidWorks or similar) required.
  • Experience reading, creating, and managing engineering drawings required.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills required.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with field service, metrology, and external teams required.
  • Experience with RTC360 scanning or Polyworks software preferred.
  • Familiarity with reverse engineering workflows and inspection tools preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in field service or shop-based repair/inspection environments preferred.
  • Exposure to automation, scripting, or digital workflow development experience preferred.

REQUIRED EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

OTHER INFORMATION
  • Travel time is expected to be 10-25%.
  • This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. Additional hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required based on project needs.
  • This position can be required to participate in the company random or customer specific drug and alcohol screening and background check.
  • Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English proficiently.
  • Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 30 lbs., 50 lbs. with assistance.
  • Ability to walk, climb, reach above head, and balance.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • RMS Inc. may have government contracts that impose specific requirements on employees working on those projects. If an employee does not meet these requirements, they may be reassigned to a different location or be ineligible to work on certain assignments.

Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee may work/enter a shop with exposure to moving mechanical parts. While the work area may be described as generally clean, safe, and "not loud", there will be machining operations that generate moderate noise.
