Description:

Proper Hospitality is seeking an experienced and driven Group Sales Manager to join the team at Shelborne Miami Beach by Proper, a renowned hotel re-opening and debuting in our portfolio in early 2025.

Our property will introduce four vibrant new food & beverage destinations to the neighborhood, each suited for warm weather dining, with an all-day signature restaurant, a lobby bar-lounge, and curated cafe. Resort amenities will include a spacious pool and lush garden lounge, indoor-outdoor cabanas, sundeck terrace, state-of-the-art fitness center, dedicated access to a private beach club, and more than 15,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor meeting & event space.

The Group Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue by developing and nurturing relationships with group clients, event planners, and corporate partners. This role focuses on generating group bookings, managing client relationships and ensuring seamless execution of group events. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales, a passion for hospitality and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-end environment.

Key Responsibilities

Sales and Business Development
  • Proactively identify and pursue new group sales opportunities to meet and exceed revenue targets
  • Develop relationships with key accounts, including corporate clients, event planners, travel agents and destination management companies
  • Conduct sales calls, presentations, site inspections and attend industry trade shows and networking events to generate leads
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing to maximize group revenue while maintaining the hotel's brand standards and profitability

Client Relationship Management
  • Act as the main point of contact for group clients, ensuring timely communication and superior service from initial inquiry through event completion
  • Collaborate closely with the events and operations teams to ensure all group bookings and events are flawlessly executed
  • Conduct post-event follow-up to assess guest satisfaction and maintain long-term relationships

Revenue Management & Reporting
  • Work with the Director of Sales to create and implement group sales strategies aligned with the hotel's overall revenue goals
  • Monitor group room block performance, release dates and ensure contract compliance to optimize revenue
  • Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and analysis to track progress against goals and inform business decisions

Collaboration and Leadership
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling group promotions, packages and marketing materials
  • Act as a brand ambassador, ensuring all group sales activities align with the hotel's luxury positioning and guest experience
  • Stay informed about industry trends and competitor activity to continuously refine the group sales strategy

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in group sales within the luxury hospitality industry
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Strong negotiation, communication and presentation skills
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and industry partners
  • Knowledge of hotel management systems (PMS, CRM, and sales software)
  • Passion for delivering luxury service and attention to detail
