Position Description:
The main function of the GV Wire Operations Manager will be to manage operations and projects of the GV Wire news division. This includes but is not limited to tracking project progress, scheduling all GV Wire staff for filming and interviews, ensuring stories are published on time (meeting deadlines), and ensuring the staff have all props and equipment needed to execute a project. Reporting directly to the Publisher, this position will ensure that all staff are meeting deadlines and attending events/scheduled interviews as coordinated. Will be responsible for overseeing GV Wire staff member's projects and performance.

Other additional duties are as needed. Examples of additional duties but not limited to research and write stories on political issues both local and national, contribute to content as needed, contribute to video content as needed, which includes shooting video, conducting interviews, and editing video. Aiding in public affairs representation of GV Wire, will include researching issues and preparing communications on behalf of the Publisher, serving as the day-to-day liaison with media, governmental bodies, and other constituencies. This position will have full creative independence of production, story writing and full responsibility in management of all GV Wire operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, writing and research skills, sound news judgement, and exceptional communication skills. Video is an important platform for telling our stories, therefore, an ideal candidate will have shooting and editing knowledge and the ability to learn new programs in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions/Accountabilities:
Initiate and oversee a program for digital AD sales and sponsored content
Managing all scheduling, time-off requests, and approval of timecards
Coordinating video production
Overseeing GV Wire licensing contracts with organizations such as AP, the New York Times, and others.
Ensuring GV Wire staff have equipment needed for all projects.
Oversee the purchase and inventory of GV Wire equipment.
Overseeing the GV Wire studio and ensuring equipment is inventoried and in working order.
Serve as the liaison between GV Wire staff members and the Granville Homes IT team, as well as outside IT vendors.
Monitor the GV Wire website to ensure that it's fully functioning and alert the appropriate IT staff should it go down.
Coordinate public events such as candidate and issues forums, either at CMAC, the GV Wire studio, or public venues.
Contribute new ideas for news stories and video production.
Preparing communications on behalf of the Publisher.
Strong and detailed editing skills and a firm knowledge of AP guidelines.
On occasion, attending news conferences, City Council meetings, etc., and asking questions, and producing stories.
Staying informed on current events and reacting to breaking news stories on the company's behalf as necessary.
Working closely and overseeing the work of GV Wire staff in tandem with the Vice President of News.
Writing short 'fillers' to entertain, and researching and writing longer feature articles, sometimes for external publications.
Creating and uploading news content for the website, including attaching images and streaming video.
Utilizing social media reporting or real-time blogging when covering important events.
Familiarity with key local players, including elected officials, business leaders and notable community figures
Competencies:
Project Management.
Experience shooting/editing video
Provide experience for staff development
Supervisory Responsibility:
Working with the Publisher and News Director, this position is responsible for the management and hiring of all employees in the department.
Work Environment:
- The noise level in the work environment can be loud due to an open office environment. Movement of people and objects in and around workspaces is common.

Pay Range: $68,640 - $92,140 per year
