Description:
The Hardware Engineering Manager at Synapse ITS will lead a multidisciplinary team of Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and Engineering Technicians in the design, development, and support of highly engineered solutions for a wide range of transportation applications. This role will oversee the execution of New Product Introductions (NPI) and provide ongoing Sustaining Engineering services. The manager will collaborate closely with Firmware Engineering Team Leads to ensure seamless integration and delivery of high-quality products that meet performance, cost, and schedule objectives. The role requires effective use of both Agile and Waterfall workflows to align with project complexity and drive successful outcomes. The manager will translate high-level project plans and cascade into clear, actionable SMART goals to align individual responsibilities with team objectives, ensuring accountability, focus, and measurable progress across all disciplines. Additionally, the manager will collaborate closely with Applications Engineering and Factory Operations teams to triage, prioritize, and resolve sustaining engineering issues, ensuring product reliability and continuous improvement in field and production performance. This is an onsite position located at the Synapse ITS Engineering Center of Excellence in Plano, TX. Must be willing to visit the Factory up to 1 day per week. The factory is located in Greenville which is a 1 hour drive from the Plano Office.

Requirements
Education: Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Systems Engineering
Technical Experience &Skills:
- 8+ years of Relevant Engineering Management Experience
- Working Knowledge of Industrial IoT Systems and Methods
- Proficiency in use and management of collaboration tools (e.g, Jira, Confluence)
- 7+ years of experience as a innovative hardware developer for connected ecosystems
- Hands-on Working Knowledge of CAD Tools such as Altium or Solidworks
- Design for 6-Sigma Toolbox
- Design for Test, Manufacturability, Reliability and Service
- Thermal Management Expertise
- Design for Extreme Environments
- Electromechanically Packaging and Product Modularity
