We are seeking a skilled Harness Technician with expertise in wire harness assembly and inspection in accordance with IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assembling, testing, and repairing electrical harnesses and cable assemblies for aerospace, automotive, military, or industrial applications.
What you'll do:
- Assemble, route, and terminate wire harnesses and cable assemblies following IPC-620 standards and engineering drawings
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and work instructions
- Crimp, solder, and apply heat shrink tubing to ensure high-quality terminations
- Perform quality inspections to verify proper assembly, continuity, and compliance with IPC/WHMA-A-620 requirements
- Use hand tools, measuring instruments, and automated crimping/soldering equipment for assembly
- Troubleshoot and repair defective wire harnesses or cable assemblies
- Maintain proper documentation of work performed, including test reports and inspection records
- Adhere to ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) safety procedures and company quality control standards
- Collaborate with engineers and production teams to improve assembly processes.
- Follow workplace safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment
What you'll bring:
- Certification in IPC/WHMA-A-620 is preferred. Willing to pursue recertification if needed.
- 1-3+ years of experience in wire harness/cable assembly in a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Experience using hand tools such as crimpers, strippers, and soldering irons
- Strong attention to detail and quality control mindset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Knowledge of MIL-SPEC and aerospace wiring standards is a plus
Education & Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or associate degree preferred
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification (current or willing to obtain)
- Additional certifications (e.g., J-STD-001 for soldering) are a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Standing, bending, and working with small components for extended periods
- Good vision and hand dexterity for precision work
