SUMMARY: The Complex HatcheryManager is responsible for the overall performance of Stone Springs, South Main, and Broadway Hatcheries in Virginia. The manager is also responsible for planning, developing, and implementing policies and practices for operation of the hatcheries as well as attaining goals for a profitable operation. This position will direct strategic operational plans in hatching eggs and chick production. Responsible for compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Guidelines, and local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will have supervisory responsibility.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to,
- Manage and coordinate hatchery activities that include: egg pick-up, chick deliveries, animal welfare, incubation, sets, hatching, grading, and vaccination.
- Manage and coordinate maintenance of all facilities and equipment.
- Manage chick quality, packing and transfer activities.
- Oversee quality assurance/quality control program.
- Communicate with breeder manager and breeder clerk to project egg needs.
- Communicate and coordinate with contract service providers where applicable.
- Manage and maintain weekly hatch schedules providing proper number of chicks to adhere to the placement planner.
- Monitor and manage facility equipment and repairs, addressing maintenance issues.
- Maintain hatchery sanitation.
- Establish and manage safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and information regarding hatchery equipment and operations.
- Responsible for hatchery budget.
- Manage and coordinate chick deliveries with broiler manager and broiler clerks.
- Coordinate egg pickup, chick delivery and inventories between the three hatcheries to be the most efficient and cost effective for the company.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will have supervisory responsibility.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Poultry Science, Agricultural Science, Management or related field AND 4+ years of hatchery experience or combination of hatchery and relative poultry industry experience.
- 3 years of supervisor experience within similar environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
