Job Responsibilities

• Plans and coordinates with appropriate clinical supervisor the activities required to meet inmate health care.
• Interfaces with physician, security, institutional administrative and support services, and divisional administration, acting as a role model to staff in communication with above.
• Responsible for daily supervision of the health care activities (sick call, medication administration, etc.) within the assigned clinical area.
• Coordinates appointments /admissions with appropriate facility and providers and provides appropriate documentation.
• Documents and supervises documentation on medical record, maintaining confidentiality.
• Supervises the performance or subordinates by incorporating strengths, upgrading, weaknesses, and providing guidance when necessary.
• Evaluates staff, designated by supervisor, via EPMS.
• Monitors and maintains documentation of supplies and equipment utilized.
• Monitors compliance with OSHA and infection control standards.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina minimum requirements:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and related nursing experience.

SCDC minimum requirements:

(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

A bachelor's degree in nursing and one (1) year experience as a registered nurse.

Or

An associate degree in nursing three (3) years' experience as a registered nurse.

Must have an active nursing license in the state of South Carolina or qualifying compact state.
