Job Description
The Head of Business Development is responsible for leading sales and service strategies for branch network and commercial bank. This includes hiring and developing staff. Ensure staff execute satisfactory performance related to managing client relationships, and adherence to compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires a combination of operational management, sales management, client service management, leadership skills, and strong knowledge of banking.
Sales and Service
* Lead all business development efforts and sales activities to ensure the Bank achieves its growth and financial goals.
* Collaborate with senior leadership to establish and implement a coaching and training program for all client facing position within the bank to ensure the bank's culture is embedded in the sales and service process.
* Work with the relationship managers, operations and risk management to ensure that business development goals are met safely and soundly, provide training on the Bank's product and services, and track results by officer and product line.
* Establish and maintain a high-level and responsive customer service culture throughout the Bank.
* Directly generate loans, deposits and fee income for the Bank.
* Assist in identifying target markets that will be receptive to the products and services offered by the Bank.
* Participate in the development of new products and services for each business line of the Bank.
* Collaborate with customer service teams to resolve issues related to deposits, account management, and transaction processing.
* Develop and monitor standards for high-quality customer service within deposit operations.
* Manage escalated customer inquiries and ensure prompt resolution.
Community Engagement
* Participate in community and business-related organizations and attend major civic events to maintain visibility throughout the community and develop new customer relationships.
* Assist in identifying CRA investment and service opportunities in the Bank's market.
* Work with the CEO to establish company brand and image throughout the Bank's market area.
Team Leadership and Development
* Manage, coach, and mentor a team of deposit operations professionals, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
* Develop and execute training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge of regulatory requirements and operational best practices.
* Set performance goals, conduct evaluations, and support career development for team members.
Experience: Significant experience in sales, business development and banking with a focus on loan and deposit products and services, ideally in a leadership capacity.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of banking software and digital tools used in deposit management.
Compliance Knowledge Familiarity with regulatory requirements affecting deposits, including AML, KYC, and other relevant standards.
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions to improve sales performance and activities.
Leadership Skills: Strong team management and leadership skills, with experience building and leading high-performing teams.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail, especially in regulatory compliance.
Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field (advanced degrees preferred).
