Head of Innovation

We are seeking a Head of Innovation, responsible for ensuring that our product portfolio meets the evolving needs of pets and pet parents in meaningful ways to enable sustainable, long-term growth for our brands. This strategic leadership role will focus on having an in-depth understanding of consumer and industry insights/trends, developing innovation pipelines that will put our brands at the forefront of the pet industry and working with a cross-functional team to develop new products and ready them for launch. This role will report to the Head of Marketing and work closely with R&D, Sales, and Operations to bring innovation to life.

Key Responsibilities

• Consumer & Market Trends/Insights
  • Work closely with the Consumer Insights Lead to uncover emerging industry trends and to develop a deep understanding of pet parent needs
  • Utilize market analyses, industry conferences, and competitive analyses to identify innovation opportunities that are meaningful to pet parents and differentiated for our brands
• Innovation Strategy & Pipeline Development
  • Define and execute a 5 year innovation roadmap aligned with brand strategy and business goals
  • Identify white space opportunities by leveraging consumer insights, market trends, and category analysis
  • Partner with R&D and product teams to ideate, test, and validate new products that drive growth
  • Develop and present business cases for new products, including financial projections, feasibility assessments, and go-to-market strategies
• Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Collaborate with R&D, Finance, and Operations to identify and develop viable product innovations that meet financial guardrails
  • Work closely with the Brand Team to understand brand positionings/growth strategies to ensure innovations are aligned with strategic direction
  • Serve as a thought leader within the organization, advocating for innovation and category growth opportunities
  • Present innovation updates and recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders

Qualifications & Experience

• 10+ years of experience in CPG marketing, innovation, or product development
• Proven track record of successfully launching and scaling innovative products in a fast-paced environment.
• Deep understanding of consumer insights, market research methodologies, and data-driven decision-making.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Strong financial acumen, with experience in P&L management and business case development.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to sell ideas and build alignment.
• Passion for pets is plus!
