The Head of Infrastructure and Engineering will be responsible for specialists that assess, configure, and maintain technological infrastructure systems to ensure they meet BetaNXT's business needs. The successful candidate will evaluate existing systems and determine ways to better align those systems to support business operations for increased efficiency. They will also oversee the installation, integration, and maintenance of equipment and programs and provide ongoing tech support and assist with developing an infrastructure plan that will continue to accommodate the organization's future needs.

As a member of the CIO leadership team, this role contributes towards the strategic direction of the organization. This position manages multiple technical teams, in multiple locations, and ensures service management function and associated operational & business processes are developed, deployed, and effectively managed and maintained to meet defined service levels. A focus on system availability, reliability, and maintainability is critical for success of the BetaNXT business.

Specifically, this role will oversee all BetaNXT data centers, cloud services, operating systems, network, and storage management encompassing the following BetaNXT groups: Unix Support, Distributed Engineering and Support, Network Engineering and Support, and Storage Engineering and Support.

Primary Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

Requirements:
  • Responsible for tactical implementation of strategic infrastructure and applications operating plan against roadmap and architectural standards.
  • Responsible for the process ownership of designated engineering processes.
  • Accountable for and champion process adherence to appropriate process and software development standards (e.g. SSAE16, ISO, ITIL standards).
  • Delivers against company technology and business strategies. The role requires implementation of local, regional and global strategies as well as input to organization-wide evolving strategies.
  • Responsible for multi-site/multi-vendor hardware and software implementation and support.
  • Runs large projects and/or works on projects with no supervision.
  • Scope of decisions covers multiple technical teams or divisions, has significant impact to technical operations/budget and may have significant impact to divisional operations/budget.
  • Establishes the direction for creating the engineering life cycle of all infrastructures, thus ensuring that all hardware and software is maintained at the correct revision level and is supportable.
  • Builds, develops, and leads a highly effective and motivated organization with clearly defined objectives aligned to the overall objectives of technology services and strategy.
  • Provides proactive problem management that reduces the volume of incident across the technology organization.
  • Leads the review, definition, and implementation of operating procedures and operability on new and existing systems, ensuring adherence to standards.
  • Work on tasks, incidents, and projects throughout the Refinitiv datacenter networks observing approved change window and architectural guidelines.
  • Provide strong technical insight and resolution actions for incidents across the following hardware and software: Check Point, Palo Alto, Netscreen, F5, Cisco ACE, Cisco Nexus routers and switches,
  • Collaborates across team to identify and execute on initiatives for driving down incident rates and working with first level support to improve service recovery times
  • Follows process to ensure that all aspects of operability are delivered whiles ensuring that existing service levels are maintained or improved.
  • Configure and troubleshoot the network that supports connectivity to the business' applications.
  • Produce detailed implementation instructions and execute changes to complete required activities
  • Develop and update network infrastructure documentation.
  • Provides a sound level of technical and domain expertise relating to firewalls
  • Collaborate with problem management to deliver high service levels by following up on root cause analysis and resolution of problems.

  • Capable of developing technical strategies related to Distributed Systems technologies (network, storage, systems, and application) to drive continuous improvement and cost efficiencies.
  • Able to learn and use network engagement tools and systems such as HP-NA, Sevone, and Netflow.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications; analytical and detail oriented
  • Independent-thinker and self-starter, who still can work well within team environment
  • Good interpersonal skills and problem solving/decision making abilities.
  • Experience of working in a multi-culture environment with focus on customers, collaboration and getting results.


Technical Knowledge and Required Experience:
  • 15+ years of experience, including managing teams in a large-scale financial services, fintech or related field with detailed knowledge of financial markets and operations technology.
  • Extensive experience in a multi-team management role.
  • Extensive knowledge of Distributed Systems technologies as well as IT delivery and support processes.
  • Extensive experience in building, developing, and managing high performance teams and forging professional relationships with key customers and suppliers.
  • Extensive experience communicating effectively at all levels. Strong written and oral presentation skills are required.
  • Logical and methodical approach to tasks and problem solving.
  • Full understanding of operating procedures for mission critical high availability systems.
  • Understanding of capacity and performance parameters and thresholds for mission critical high availability systems.
  • Understanding of SIFMA regulations
  • Thorough knowledge of IT infrastructure, change management methodologies, complex problem-solving methodology.
  • Exposure to ISO 9001 and ISO 2700
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with various cloud providers and such AWS, OCI and Azure
  • Other critical pieces of our tech stack include:
    • Cisco Nexus, ASR routers / switches, Catalyst 6500, 2900, Checkpoint and Palo Alto technologies and experience in the fields of F5 LTM/GTM or Cisco ACE technologies
    • Ethernet services, point to multi-point connectivity as well as the ability to work with carriers for problem solving purposes.
    • Cisco routers, switches, EIGRP/BGP/VRF routing concepts, Fabric Path, IP/ARP/MAC/Spanning-tree issues and configurations, troubleshooting VLAN or physical connectivity for servers and other devices, troubleshooting Cisco access-list, NAT issues.
    • TCP/IP protocols, flags and be able to troubleshoot connectivity issues using Wireshark / Tcpdump / snoop.

Technical Certification:
  • Cisco CCNP, Check Point CCSE, CCSA, F5-CTS certification an advantage


Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Management Information Systems or related field required.
  • Advanced degree preferred
