Professor and Head: School of Fire, Construction, and Emergency Management

The College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology at Oklahoma State University (OSU) seeks nominations and applications for a full-time, tenured Associate Professor or Professor and Head of the School of Fire, Construction, and Emergency Management (FCEM) with an 11-month academic/administrative appointment beginning fall of 2025, pending board approval. The College is seeking a collaborative and visionary leader who can promote excellence in teaching, research, and scholarship within the School.

The School Head will demonstrate ethical leadership in support of a culture of collaboration and excellence, fostering a supportive environment among students, faculty, and staff. The Head leads the strategic planning, hiring and development of faculty and staff in the school, provides comprehensive annual evaluations of all personnel, supports their professional development, and collaborates with other School Heads and the Dean in advancing the College and University. The Head is expected to manage the fiscal affairs of the School, as well as donor funds, with transparency and integrity and is expected to assist the College development team in successful fund-raising initiatives to increase school resources for scholarships, graduate fellowships, faculty support, and facilities.

About the School: The School of Fire, Construction, and Emergency Management at OSU, which is pending board approval, has 16 tenure-track faculty members and 3 non-tenure track faculty. The school offers two B.S. degree programs in Engineering Technology, two M.S. programs, and one Ph.D. program. The Bachelor of Science degrees include Construction Engineering Technology and Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology. The Master of Science programs are in Fire Safety and Explosion Protection and Fire and Emergency Management Administration. The Ph.D. program is in Fire and Emergency Management Administration. The B.S. degrees are accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET). Qualifications: The successful candidate will need to be qualified to hold the title of Associate Professor or Professor. Candidates are sought who have an earned doctorate and national reputation in fire protection, construction, safety, emergency management, or a closely related field; a distinguished record of scholarship, teaching, and leadership in an appropriate area of fire, construction, safety, or emergency management; an interest in advancing educational programs with a balance between undergraduate and graduate levels; a record of leadership in professional societies and interaction with industry. Candidates should demonstrate the vision and desire to develop educational programs and the ability to drive student recruitment, as well as strong administrative and financial management abilities; academic leadership; communications and relationship-building skills with students, faculty and alumni.
