Position: Health Center Medical Director-Family/Internal Medicine MD

Position Summary: The Health Center Medical Director is a member of the health center leadership team and provides leadership, guidance and motivation to ensure the best environment for quality patient-centered care. The Health Center Medical Director is responsible for the oversight of all medical care and quality of services provided at the health center.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Works directly with the site's Practice Manager, Assistant Practice Manager, and providers to ensure a patient-centered, effective, and efficient medical home.
  • Oversees the medical care and quality of services provided at the site.
  • Serves as a role model for professionalism, visit expectations, and service to the community.
  • Collaborates with the site's Practice Manager and Assistant Practice Manager to address challenges related to work flow, patient care, patient concerns, and incidents.
  • Participates in the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and corrective action of health center providers.
  • Onboards/orients new provider staff.
  • Supervises and evaluates health center providers.
  • Reviews and approves provider schedules, including requests for time off and ensuring adequate availability for patient visits.
  • Fosters a professional working relationship amongst all members of the health care teams.
  • Communicates with site staff regarding quality initiatives, policies and procedures, and visit expectations.
  • Works with the behavioral health staff to ensure the effective integration of care.
  • Attends regularly scheduled meetings with the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Supports visit goals and participates in the budgeting process.
  • Participates in the implementation and carrying out of continuous quality improvement programs and activities.
  • Leads, in collaboration with the Practice Manager, site meetings.
  • Collaborates in the development and periodic review of written clinical policies, guidelines, and protocols for the functioning of the health center and responsibilities of the clinicians.
  • Assists, where required, in the education and training of staff.
  • Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

  • Required Skills or Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with primary care staff, residents, patients, and other staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with diverse team members and patients.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient in the use of an electronic health record.

  • Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience, or Licensure
  • Medical provider with unrestricted, active Illinois practice and controlled substance license, as well as federal DEA.
  • Must maintain full credentials and privileges to practice with PrimeCare Health.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a provider, preferably in a primary care setting, with FQHC experience strongly preferred.
  • Board certified in family medicine or internal medicine.
  • Current provider-level CPR certification.
  • Prior clinic leadership experience beneficial.

    Salary

    All wages are based on relevant years of experience, time since completing a residency program, and/or licensure. The minimum rate is the wage that a newly graduated Physician will earn. We are willing to consider someone interested in 32 hours per week instead of 40, and wages would be adjusted accordingly.

    Proof of full vaccination is required prior to the beginning date of employment. If you have a medical or religious contraindication, please inform Human Resources when the offer is extended.
