Job Responsibilities
The person in this position will coordinate the development, revision, and implementation of health science education standards and curriculum to align with industry needs and workforce expectations. Develop and manage career pathways, courses, and technical skill assessments within the health science career cluster. Work with educators, advisory boards, and industry professionals to ensure up-to-date and competency-based instruction in health science education. Provide technical assistance to school districts, teachers, and administrators to ensure compliance with federal, state, and agency policies related to career and technical education (CTE) programs. Conduct on-site visits, virtual support, phone consultations, and email communication to assist educators and schools. Serve as a resource for credentialing teachers within the health science career cluster. Develop and facilitate professional development opportunities for new and experienced health science teachers. Lead training sessions at statewide conferences, regional meetings, and workshops, ensuring educators stay informed on emerging healthcare technologies and information, instructional strategies, and workforce trends. Provide mentorship and technical support for new health science teachers, including the instructor/teacher training and preparation program. Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with industry associations and workforce organizations to enhance student learning opportunities. Work with external partners to help facilitate the provision of student certifications, assessments, and work-based learning experiences. Advocate for cross-cluster collaboration in related fields to increase student credentialing and employment pathways. Be a leader in the South Carolina HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) program, serving as a liaison between students, teachers, and the HOSA Board of Directors. Help organize and lead HOSA state conferences. Support student participation in national and international HOSA competitions, ensuring strong representation from South Carolina. Analyze student learning outcomes and workforce trends to continuously improve program offerings. Develop strategies to expand access to high-demand, and high-value credentialing exams and industry certifications for students. Perform other duties as assigned.
This position is located in the Office of Career & Technical Education.

- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in career and technical education instruction, health science education, healthcare workforce, workforce development, or a related field.

- Knowledge of career clusters, technical skill assessments, and competency-based education.
- Experience working with local education agencies, healthcare organizations, and/or relevant industry stakeholders.
- Ability to facilitate professional learning, develop curriculum, and implement statewide educational programs.
- Strong public speaking and facilitation skills for conferences, advisory boards, and industry meetings.
- Willingness to travel statewide to provide direct support to schools and districts.
- Leadership experience.
- Familiarity with Perkins V legislation, work-based learning models, and industry certification processes.
- Ability to develop and manage large-scale projects, programs, and professional learning initiatives.
