Job Description

We are seeking candidates for an open-rank faculty position in the Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in Birmingham, Alabama.

The successful candidate must possess a PhD degree and a strong publication record. Qualified candidates are expected to have an innovative, extramurally funded research program in basic and translational studies of chronic pain. An emphasis on neural circuits, behavior, and molecular/cellular neuroscience with a focus on identifying and developing novel therapeutic options is desired. The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with existing faculty in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine and the broader UAB community with ongoing research efforts as well as participate in the educational mission of the Department, and engage in service to the Department and University.

Our research footprint extends over 6,000 square feet of recently renovated laboratory space with the most advanced equipment in the second and third floor of the Pitman Biomedical Research Building II.
