REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Washington State principal's credential or eligibility to obtain one
- Master's Degree from an accredited institution
- Successful teaching experience
- Residency within the Pullman School District upon appointment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience as a high school administrator
- Master's Degree in Educational Administration/Leadership
- Experience with programs serving exceptional populations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Expertise in pedagogy designed for high school learners and aligned with current standards and assessments
- Ability to establish and manage an effective school-wide behavior management plan
- Proficiency in developing and managing school-wide budgets
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) with students, staff, parents, and the community
- Understanding of the learning needs of diverse and special-needs student populations
- Commitment to fostering academic rigor, social/emotional growth, and development for high school students
- Knowledge of special education, 504 laws, and Washington State regulations
- Skill in cultivating a positive learning environment for students and staff
- Ability to foster collaboration among staff to improve instruction and learning
- Experience with shared decision-making and school improvement processes
- Demonstrated leadership in program development, supervision, and instructional improvement
- Familiarity with the Code of Professional Conduct and ethical standards
- In-depth knowledge of Professional Learning Communities, professional learning strategies, and instructional best practices
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional Leadership and School Improvement:
- Lead staff in collaboration and instructional improvement efforts
- Foster a culture of innovation, adaptability, and continuous improvement in instruction and learning
- Promote and support the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning
- Maintain a commitment to the school's strategic plan, aligned with the district's strategic direction
- Enhance student learning by supporting, overseeing, and guiding the work of Collaborative Teams
- Guide Collaborative Team analysis and related instructional response to student formative and summative achievement data
School Climate and Student Development:
- Establish and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
- Promote student supervision practices that encourage self-discipline and responsibility
- Develop and oversee co-curricular programs to enrich students' educational experiences
Staff Leadership and Support:
- Recruit, supervise, and evaluate all school staff, including instructional and non-instructional employees
- Provide guidance and support to foster professional growth among staff
- Oversee the coordination of support services (food services, transportation, custodial, and facilities)
Operational and Fiscal Management:
- Develop and manage school budgets to align with strategic priorities
- Ensure effective allocation of resources to meet the needs of students and staff
Community and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members
- Collaborate with school-related organizations, agencies, and district teams
- Communicate effectively with parents and the community to interpret educational programs and initiatives
- Model integrity, transparency, and trust in all interactions
Professionalism and Collaboration:
- Contribute positively and collaboratively to the district's administrative team
- Manage multiple demands under pressure while delivering high-quality results
- Perform other duties as assigned by the superintendent
TERMS OF CONTRACT:
- Salary: $148,287 - $162,037 per year
- Length of Contract: 260 days/year (includes 25 vacation days and 13 paid holidays), position to start in July of 2025
- Benefits/Leaves: Medical, dental, vision, life and long-term disability coverage is provided through SEBB (School Employee Benefits Board) for employees who work at least 630 hours per academic year. Retirement benefits are provided through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS). Additional leave benefits are provided per board policies.
TIMELINE:
- January 31, 2025: Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. to be considered during the first round of screening
- February 7, 2025: Application screening process complete
- February 14, 2025: Notification sent to those candidates selected for interviews
- February 28, 2025: Tentative date for initial interviews
- March 12, 2025: Hiring recommendation forwarded to Board of Directors for approval
- July 1, 2025: Position start date
