General Statement of Duties
This role requires a visionary instructional leader who understands the unique needs of students in alternative education and has successfully implemented innovative strategies to foster academic accountability, social-emotional growth, and post-secondary readiness. The ideal candidate will create and lead dynamic learning experiences that empower students to thrive beyond traditional educational models.
Essential Duties
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree and three years' experience as a teacher, administrator, or supervisor,
at least one year of which must have been at the school level to which assigned. Post-graduate professional certificate with Administrative and Supervision endorsement required. Must possess extensive knowledge of the curriculum and instructional program including content and methodologies. Organizational skills are required to plan, implement, and evaluate the school program and lead the teaching and support staff in achieving the school's goals. Supervisory skills include staff assignment, monitoring staff development and evaluating staff effectiveness. Highly developed communications skills are required for contact with community members, parents, students, teachers, and central office administration.
Preferred: Relevant work experience with at-risk learners . Background in the field of student support services and/or behavior support. Extensive knowledge in social-emotional development and trauma-informed care. Mandt-trained, restorative practice-trained.

*Minimum annualized salary - $134,057.96 ( The salary for this position will be prorated based upon the official start date).

Essential Duties
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Design, develop, and implement 6-12 alternative instructional programs on the Campus of Virginia Randolph
(the Academy at Virginia Randolph and PACE), emphasizing student-centered, experiential, project-based, and blended learning models that cater to diverse learning needs.
Integrate non-traditional instructional strategies-including flexible scheduling, interdisciplinary curriculum development, and technology- enhanced learning-to enrich the educational experience and address varied student needs.
Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to Special Education ensuring compliance with Virginia's Special Education Regulations.
Design, implement, monitor, and measure a strategic plan based on the needs of the school.
Serves as fiscal manager and conducts a systematic budget development process. Demonstrates a clear understanding of and adherence to all School Board policies relating to the collection and expenditure
of funds while ensuring funds are allocated efficiently to support innovative educational initiatives.
Conducts performance evaluations and constructive and timely feedback to teachers and support staff
to ensure compliance while fostering a culture of reflective practice and continuous improvement with
educational standards and alignment with alternative instructional objectives.
Demonstrate the ability to cultivate a positive environment that fosters a positive work culture by
demonstrating genuine trust, respect, and sensitivity to staff morale, ensuring all team members feel
valued and empowered.
Champions ongoing professional development initiatives, equipping faculty and staff with innovative
strategies and best practices that support conventional and alternative teaching methodologies.
Creates a positive school climate with structure that mirrors multi-tiered levels of support, which
includes school-wide expectations and positive behavior interventions.
Uses the Code of Student Conduct to make informed decisions regarding student discipline.
Leverages building management expertise to maintain a safe, clean, and adaptable learning
environment that supports traditional and alternative education settings.
Oversee the planning, design, and implementation of educational specifications for new school
facilities, ensuring that they support modern, flexible, and alternative learning environments.
Actively participates in assigned district committees, contributing expertise in traditional and alternative educational practices.
Leads community engagement by forging strong partnerships with local organizations, businesses,
and parents, enhancing the alternative education experience through real-world learning opportunities.
Collaborate with the other principals and program leaders on the Campus of Virginia Randolph to
ensure campus safety and effective management of building operations.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Alternative Programs and Engagement, demonstrating adaptability and a steadfast commitment to advancing the alternative education program.
Attends work daily and be engaged in job responsibilities.
