Job Title: Technician
Job Specialty: Histology

Shift: 3pm-11:30pm Afternoon shift, 5x8 hours
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum years of experience required
License: None required
Certifications: HT(ASCP) certification preferred
Must-Have:
- Vision Near Acuity: Ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less
- Depth Perception: Ability to judge distance and space relationships
- Accommodation: Ability to adjust vision to bring objects into focus
- Color Vision: Ability to distinguish and identify different colors necessary to perform job functions
Job Description:
- Perform routine techniques on surgical, autopsy, and research tissue according to standardized procedures under limited supervision
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment required for analysis
- Cut surgical, autopsy, research, and neuropathology tissue using a rotary microtome
- Embed surgical, autopsy, research, and neuropathology tissue
- Stain, coverslip, and label surgical, autopsy, research, and neuropathology tissue
- Perform special stains according to standardized procedures under supervision
- Maintain all equipment and instruments and may demonstrate work to help onboard others
- Mix and maintain all solutions including stains and special fixatives
- Maintain and record all QC, CAP, QA instrument function, and maintenance records
- Keep an updated inventory of all reagents and supplies
- Adhere to Standard Work for all job duties and report deviations for correction; participate in data collection and quality improvement efforts
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
