POSITION SUMMARY
As the HR Leader, you will be the heart of our company culture, championing employee satisfaction and well-being. Your responsibilities encompass a wide range of HR functions, including talent acquisition, onboarding, benefits administration, and policy development. You will also oversee payroll processing, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
We have 3 locations, 80% of your work will be for a dual location with 80 employees with 10 leaders and 20% of your work will be with a select service location with 30 employees and 4 leaders. Your main physical office will be at 3939 Ocean Bluff Ave. SD 92130.
We utilize ADP for payroll, and we benefit from a PEO partnership, providing additional Senior level HR support. Additionally, we use ADP for recruiting services, background checks, wage garnishments and electronic onboarding.
We seek a bilingual Spanish-speaking HR professional with a background in hospitality. This role is ideal for a seasoned HR generalist or supervisor ready to step into an HR management position. Strong HR experience and education are essential for this role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Payroll:
Other Payroll functions will be needed throughout the year such as producing bonus checks, responding to payroll audits, changing associate wages, processing termination pay, partnering with ADP for annual open enrollment, etc.
Associate Relations:
This role will take the lead and partner with hotel leadership for on-going, engaging Employee Relations activities. This can include associate events, celebrations, monthly lunches, associate of the quarter and other events. This can also include assisting a department in the creation and implementation of a department specific incentive or recognition.
Interacting with the associates at department meetings, visiting their daily huddles and conducting rap sessions will aid you in understanding the teams and what motivates them.
Talent Acquisition and Retention:
Corrective actions, associate counseling, progressive discipline and terminations:

Generally, this role will work M-F, and as a hotel operates 24/7/365, there may be other non-traditional required work hours.

Payroll:
- Hiring and onboarding new associates, creating associate employment files, medical files and I-9 records.
- All functions of payroll include but are not limited to processing associate's paychecks by collecting payroll data, missing timesheets, tips and service charges.
- Duties include verifying work hours and payment through ADP, working with hotel leaders for any pay issues or questions and then successfully issuing accurate and timely payroll.
- Payroll duties include running payroll reports, submitting pay garnishments, answering employment verifications, submitting EDD notices and other state and federal associate notices to ADP for processing and compliant record keeping.
- Submitting Worker's Comp. claims, record keeping and assisting managers with any follow-up needed with ADP claims.
- Submitting LOA requests, record keeping and assisting managers with any follow-up needed with ADP LOA Services.
- Processing termination paperwork and creating the final paycheck.

- Working with Department Leaders, create engaging and compliant job advertisements.
- Creating social media posts, hiring incentives, stay bonuses as needed.
- Assist Department leaders in reviewing candidate applications, scheduling for interviews and other screening support.
- Create and facilitate and effective new hire on-boarding process.
- Create relationships with CBOs and other agencies that can provide a source of potential candidates.
- Supporting hotel leaders in creating effective, department specific on-boarding plans, including New Hire Checklists.
Corrective actions, associate counseling, progressive discipline and terminations:
- Partnering with our ADP HRBP and other HR support resources, guiding hotels leaders in authoring and issuing corrective action with the goal of changing associate behavior, or holding them accountable to company policies and procedures.
- Partnering with our ADP HRBP and other HR support resources for investigations of complaints, claims of harassment, discrimination or bullying. We have a requirement to immediately report all such claims immediately to our ADP HRBP and work with them through resolution.
- Being a confidential, trustworthy resource for associates to discuss their complaints and offer guidance on resolving their frustrations. Utilize hotel leadership as appropriate through these varied issues.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Bi-lingual Spanish speaker is essential.
- Strong computer systems skills are required, specifically MS Office. ADP experience is a strong plus.
- Effective communication skills, being able to communicate information in a clear, compelling and concise manner. Timely communication of messages is equally important.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to exceptional guest service.
Experience and/or Education:
- Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- 2 years of leadership experience, hospitality experience preferred.
- A Human Resources background is required, or direct HR skills-related experience.
- At least a 2-year college degree is preferred, or an HR Certificate from an accredited program.
