POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Business Partner provides exceptional service to internal and external customers visiting the HR Department at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. The HRBP will support several client groups across Sinai with up to approximately 800 FTEs.
Under the mentorship of the HR Operations Manager, the HRBP provides guidance to assigned client departments on matters related to employees and HR support with HR operations, recruitment, benefits interpretation, HR policies, employee relations, and compensation. Effectively utilizes all available HR metrics and other resources to develop recommendations and possible solutions to human resource issues affecting client departments.

Essential Functions:
- Embraces a diverse workforce; Understands and maintains confidentiality.
- Coaches, educates, guides and advises managers on ways to become effective leaders so that they can achieve desired business outcomes.
- Listens and acknowledges manager's ideas and requests, providing them with impact analysis (positive and negative) and influence them to make solid, effective and strategic business decisions.
- Partner with managers to operationalize current HR strategies and initiatives to the fullest effect.
- Confers with HR Ops Manager and/or Chief People Officer as appropriate.
- Serves as an advocate when necessary to ensure leaders are providing consistent and fair application of policies and procedures.
- Attends client department team meetings on an ongoing basis.
- Reviews HR metrics with managers to identify trends and discuss possible solutions.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Guides managers towards the resolution of complex employee relations issues, ensuring manager conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Partners with the legal and/or compliance department as needed.
- Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
- Confers with HR leadership team regarding possible training needs for business units and/or individual executive coaching needs.
- Presents approved HR training sessions related to client departments, at the direction of HR leader.
- Works on special projects; performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree and 5+ years professional HR experience; will consider 9+ years of previous HR experience (extensive HR Generalist / Business Partner support to assigned client groups) in lieu of a bachelor's.
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state employment laws.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; professionalism; time management.
- Healthcare/hospital HR experience preferred.
