JOB OVERVIEW

The Human Resource Director has the responsibility of organizing and maintaining the company's strategic human resources management process to achieve company goals. This position will plan, develop, and implement company policies, ensuring legal compliance and in support of the organization's mission and talent strategy. This position requires strong verbal and written skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and computer literacy. The ideal candidate will have the ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and maintain a high level of confidentiality.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborate with the leadership to create and implement the company's long-term goals for human capital success, including staffing, recruiting, retention and succession planning.
  • Manage the weekly payroll function, ensuring compliance and accuracy. Seek opportunities for efficiency and automation to reduce manual processes.
  • Work with managers to identify staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Manages the Human Resources department, overseeing the daily workflow. Provides leadership and guidance in all areas of HR functionality including talent management, performance management, total rewards, employee relations, employee engagement and communication, etc.
  • Manages the company's human resource policies, procedures, and programs. Provides general supervision for company-wide activities of personnel administration, management training and development, safety, benefits administration, employee communications, and employee activities.
  • Work directly with benefit broker in building and tracking the effectiveness and cost savings of the company's benefit plans.
  • Researches and educates leadership on competitive compensation and benefits.
  • Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with employment laws, regulations, and best practices across all states Milk Bar operates, with a particular focus on NY, CA & DC.
  • Directs and maintains effective communication with employees to promote and sustain a high level of employee morale.
  • Conducts employee relation investigations and make recommendations based on findings. Provides problem resolution through policies and procedures interpretation.
  • Analyzes data/metrics regarding turnover, identify improvement opportunities, and develop processes for improvement.
  • Support managers with progressive discipline, performance improvement, and performance development.
  • Ensure completion and submission of mandatory compliance reporting (new hire, ACA, EEO, etc.).
  • Manage vendor and administrator relationships.
  • Fully understand and exhibit the Milk Bar ethos, embody our core values, inspire celebration, and create real magic. Serve as a brand ambassador, both internally and externally.
  • Participate in special projects or perform other duties as requested.

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree required, major in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of seven years of human resource management experience required.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws (including California) and regulations.
  • Experience with benefit plan design and working with benefit brokers.
  • Proficient with Google Suite.
  • Ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems. Proficiency with Paylocity preferred.
  • Experience with RFP and implementation processes preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
