Position Purpose

Lead the local HR strategies for largest OWI manufacturing plant through partnering with functional leadership and Labor union. Position must partner and adhere to corporate HR policies and procedures, and execute the role with a dedication to professionalism, fairness, consistency, and overall HR excellence. Also, may direct contracted staffing efforts, as well as other activities, using multiple third-party contract staffing coordinators. This is a 100% ONSITE position in New Kensington, PA with some travel to our corporate headquarters in Northbrook, IL.

Main Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities of the Role
  • Partner with the Regional HR Manager and CPO in developing and implementing HR oriented strategies in support of business initiatives in New Kensington.
  • Manage the talent acquisition process for all positions, including temporary staff; partner with corporate TA team on contracts, support, and resources.
  • Manage all employee relations related activities which may include policy interpretations, investigations, disciplinary actions, and employee performance feedback. Review complaints, and facts with the appropriate parties and provide resolution. Ensure accurate and timely documentation of concerns and issues.
  • Manage all quarterly and annual performance management activities including the compensation processes, performance reviews, merit planning, wage increases, and bonus programs.
  • First point of contact for HRIS, payroll and benefit questions, issues, etc.
  • Provide leadership in creating and implementing training and employee development programs that either supports defined business initiatives or meets regulatory requirements including the tracking and maintaining of all employee training activities.
  • Manage all headcount reporting and functional metrics.
  • Prepare and administer local HR budget in accordance with the annual operating plan (AOP).
  • Provide oversight of diversity initiatives.
  • Become 100% familiar with the Union contract, ensure contract compliance, and partner with Union Stewards, as well as Union representatives.
  • Lead the local culture initiatives.
  • Serve as a representative for the organization in community relations activities.
  • Develop and maintain an affirmative action program, which conforms to EEO regulations.
  • Lead the development of goals and objectives for this role.
  • Lead special projects for the HR function.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Specific Business Partnering Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership in meeting defined safety, health, and environmental regulations along with other defined plant goals.
  • Work with leaders on solutions to help reduce worker's compensation costs while improving employee wellness.
  • Partner with management on creating policies and procedures.

Travel Requirements

15% mostly to Northbrook for HR meetings

Education, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 7-10 years total Human Resources experience required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience working in a union manufacturing environment required.
  • Familiarity with federal and state employment laws preferred.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization verbally, written, and through formal presentations.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Experience with an advanced HRIS system is a plus.
  • Be able to effectively influence all levels of the organization and pushback (if needed).
  • Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, and follow-up skills are required.
  • Sound judgement on employee relations decisions and balance the needs of the business with the wants of the employees.
  • The right candidate needs to be able to manage daily tasks, as well as impromptu situations that arise with a manufacturing plant.
