About the workplace

The salary range for the role is $81,200 to $122,000. The upper half of the salary range is typically reserved for individuals who have demonstrated consistent strong performance in the role and possess a high level of job knowledge and skill.

You will report to the Senior Business Partner, People & Culture and works alongside a team of People & Culture professionals in Consultant roles supporting dedicated areas of the business.
A typical day would involve:
- Provide coaching to leaders and employees regarding People & Culture programs (e.g., performance coaching, collective agreement interpretation, workplace accommodations, and terminations/severance negotiations).
- Support leaders to create work environments where diverse backgrounds, culture and attributes are celebrated through collaboration with experts and partners in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Reconciliation.
- Advise and coach leaders in the optimization and implementation of organization design principles, guidelines, and tools and make recommendations regarding the organization of work and talent.
- Partner with People & Culture leadership and centers of excellence (Organizational Wellness and Leadership, Total Rewards, DEIR and Talent Acquisition) on program design to support organization wide deliverables
- Review and evolve policies as needed.
- Facilitate and/or collaborate with external legal counsel and Unions in the resolution of grievances, legal claims, supporting bargaining and the negotiation of letters of understanding and settlements, in order to reduce negative impact (e.g. financial, reputational) at the business unit and enterprise level.
You have:
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources including experience in a unionized environment.
- Demonstrated experience providing direction to Legal Counsel in arbitration, human rights and other employment related matters.
- Demonstrated experience conducting complex workplace investigations, interpreting and applying collective agreements, responding to workplace grievances, drafting reports, writing correspondences, public speaking, facilitating meetings and training.
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) or similar designations preferred.
- Excellent communication and consulting skills. You are a problem solver and influencer who gets great satisfaction in being a true consultant.
- Labour relations experience is essential for this role, including:
- A strong understanding of collective agreements, contract negotiations, grievance handling, and dispute resolution.
- Experience fostering productive relationships with union representatives.
- Managing labor disputes, interpreting and applying labor laws, and leading collective bargaining processes.
- Advising leadership on labor relations strategies.
- Ensuring compliance with employment regulations.
- Effectively communicating with all stakeholders to maintain a collaborative and constructive work environment.
